Re: Gameday 7/2: So they are serious about this Ibanez thing,

I know that most people are not going to care about this, but I cannot continue to put my heart into this team as long as Ned and Dayton are in charge. (Mostly Ned)  His pompous, Im better and know more than everyone attitude makes me despise him.  He refuses to move Hosmer down in the order.  His refusal to send Moose down.  You give him a possible tool in Ibanez if used correctly and he is bound to screw that up cause he will play him every damn day in the outfield.  Apparently our outfielders need all these days off, but our catcher can catch 150 games.  What position is more taxing?  I wont even get started with the handling of pitchers.  Sorry rant is over now.

What in the world are they doing?

I actually was kind of pleased with the Ibanez signing, but that was when I thought Ibanez would take some ABs from Butler/Hosmer. Never once did I think that they'd actually START him in the OF.

Maybe the only way to find out if Ibanez is toast is to put him out there. When we find out he isn't the answer we can go after Jeff Francouer.

This is what I'm choosing to believe: Ibanez just got here and doesn't yet know the infield signs, shift, cover & cutoff responsibilities well enough to play 1B. Butler has been showing a pulse the last month or so, so stay with him at DH for now and hope.

Still no excuse to play him in RF...they act as if they absolutely HAVE to know right now whether he's got anything left in the bat. Desperate.

OTOH, we're how many games above .500?

Thanks, Dave.

More concerning than Ibanez, to me, is the continued insistence to bat Hosmer at 2. No reason the lineup shouldn't be:

Cain
Gordon
Butler
Perez

That's your 1 thru 4. I'd even be okay with Hosmer batting 5 behind Perez (although he should be down around 7).

I don't mind sitting Cain today, as he's had two games in a row where he's looked bad and is frustrated....plus...I'd rather give him a day off here and there to keep his legs from giving out. But when your go to option is Ibanez in the field - that makes it less okay with me to give Cain a day off. I like Ibanez as a guy....but I just don't see where he contributes here that makes actual sense (because starting him in RF does not make sense). I mean I hope the guy finds some magic and hits .290 the rest of the way with power...but I'm not counting on it.

I'm going yo reserve judgment for now. I'm going to assume Ned is giving dyson, and Cain who had looked awful the last two days a day off. If that's the case Raul in the way of is his other option at least while aoki is out

Since Cain is 0/series and was swinging at pitches that weren't even close to strikes last night and Ibanez has good numbers against(SSS alert)against Correia, I don't have a problem with the lineup. If Ibanez starts playing 4 out of 5 games then its a problem.

Gordon
Escobar
Perez
Ibanez
Butler
Hosmer
Infante
Moose
Dyson

Hosmer getting more ABs than Gordon and Perez is criminal. Especially considering Perez's history at Target Field.

Problem being.....we have no one else that can play OF on the 25 man at this point, if you want/need to give one of Gordon/Cain/Dyson a day off.

I loved the Ibanez signing as a bench bat and replacement for Hosmer periodically but absolutely not as a RF unless we are hurting.

Great, now I've got to have a signature that makes people happy on both the Royals and Chiefs board at the same time?  Aren't they the same fans?

Two days ago. Loving Dyson in the lineup.
