With off days Monday and Thursday, Cain can't
play TWO days in a row?

How long are they going to give Infante in the two spot to fight his way out of this massive slump? The guy has been one of the worse, if not the worst, everyday player in the majors since the beginning of May. He's currently on pace to have the worst season of his career.

I know Ned is all concerned about guy's "Psyches" but you have to start thinking about flipping Infante and Escobar soon. Get Infante some lower leverage ab's and try to get him going again.

Ned treats most of his players like fragile little bitchez.

Thanks, Dave.

Seems like if we want to get Dyson in the lineup we should take Aoki out.

We need to just keep winning series, especially against teams in our division, and especially at home.  This would be a great day for Ventura to go out there and be almost unhittable.  Let's get him some early run support and let him do his thing.

To me Cain getting the day off highlights Ned's biggest weakness as a manager. Odds are Cain getting the day off was planned long before today, so that hed have 2 days off. Ned never adjust his plans based on a change in circumstances, so despite having Monday off Cain still gets today off

Aaaand it would be a good day for our best defensive OF'er, and one of our best hitters to actually be IN the lineup.  This is truly one of this season's greatest unsolved mysteries.  Why doesn't Cain play more?  Why does he need so much rest?  Does he ask for the time off?  Does Ned demand that he take the time off?  Regardless, it hurts the team--which happens to be a team w/ almost zero margin for error.

Are any of Cain's injuries based on overuse? Aren't they pretty much always impact injuries? I just don't see how taking so many games off is going to prevent future injury.

in fairness Cain hasnt had that many days off. He has played in 42 games of 65 games. Including a DL stint. Does he get more than average? yes, but he has an injury history at the most pysically demanding spot on the field short of catcher. So the extra rest is warranted. My beef with today is the lack of adjustment with the change of circumstances. Had we played monday I could see a day off. Since we didnt there is no need for it

We did the same thing in Toronto. Gave Cain a day
off the day before going to Toronto, then had to get him
of the turf.

Seems like Yordano two quick outs then struggles a little to get the third one quite a bit.

If this is the logic that Yost uses, then wouldn't Perez be sat more?  Day game after Night game would be the usual suspect for an off day.

OBP of the top 3 in the lineup...
.318
.280
.297

Mind boggling....

I'm not going to get too mad at Edgar on this one....I'm all for keeping Cain in the lineup long term. Yeah...I'd rather see him in the game...but....he's already had one DL stint this year, so let's rest his legs from time to time and he can always enter a game if needed.
