Is it just me, or if you just look at the numbers presented and not the names, doesn't our lineup make more sense flipped upside down than the current construction? I mean, our #2 spot would be brutal, but you'd have 4 of your best 5 hitters (again, based solely on the numbers above) in the top 5 spots. The one we are using has probably 2 of our top 5 in the top 5 spots.

Really wish Ned would switch Hosmer and Gordon in the lineup (or move Hosmer down further than 5th).

The simple fact that day in and day out Gordon, Perez and Cain get less at bats than Aoki, Hosmer and Butler is mind-boggling.

But Ned "just doesn't want to" move Cain to the top of the order.  I can only guess that that is the same reason for not swapping Gordon/Perez for Hosmer/Butler.

yeah I think its time to at least move Cain up in the order. Id leave escobar where hes at. He just seems to hit better at the bottom of the order, and I like having a guy in the 9 spot thats productive

I really didn't want to give up on him, I really didn't but the way he refuses to listen makes me think he's a pompous punk. I'm done with the kid.

You are always a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Don't ever go doing something crazy like changing and saying something positive in a gameday thread.

I've actually been good today, this was the first negative and it was warranted.

Cain's had a good start but I doubt it will be sustainable, I'm guessing his numbers will probably eventually fall into the 270/320/380 type range

Still wish Gordon was batting lead off or higher in the lineup. He's the guy you want getting the most AB's and it's really not a contest.

Which still is worthy of top 3 in this lineup.

It would be interesting to see how many runs/hits/walks/etc Ned has cost us by consistently batting our better hitters down the order in favor of Hosmer, Aoki, and Butler.  It probably isn't that many... but when you have the terrible record that the Royals do in one run games it doesn't take a lot of additional base runners and hits to add a few wins.

not as many as youd think. Most people over value batting order. keep in mind Gordon wasnt hitting either until the last couple weeks

Re: Gameday 60 - Wacha, Wacha, Wacha

Difference BTW 1st in order vs. 6th is one PA every 2 games.  Are you telling me you would rather have Aoki in that spot right now vs Cain?

If Cain cools down or Aoki heats up, switch them back.  That's why they fill out a different card every game.

I beleive I said its time to move Cain up(wouldnt hit him leadoff) I said batting order doesnt have as much impact on runs scored as some folks think. The only way it makes a vast difference is if the manager is doing something completely off the wall like batting Moose leadoff. The total runs you score is impacted more by the guys in the lineup than the order in which they go up to the plate

Verlander got shelled again, need to take advantage of these detroit losses.

Like I said, I'm sure it isn't many, but if the Royals were just one game under .500 in one run games (8-9 instead of 5-12) we are 31-28 and only 1.5 games out of first.  That would also put us in a dead heat for the wild card.
