Re: Dave Sanford passed away

Like everyone else shocked and saddened to hear of his passing at far too young of an age.

I will be wearing Royal blue on the 15th in his honor.

RIP RC

Thanks Kimmie - I don't live anywhere near NC, but rest assured I'll be wearing blue in Dallas (TX) on the 15th in his honor.  The Royals are already represented here in the office, per my Royals lanyard that holds my ID which I wear every day and Royals memorabilia in my office.

RIP, Dave.  Go Royals!

Re: Dave Sanford passed away

Just saw this news and wanted to come here to pass along my condolences if the Sanford family is looking on this site. Royals Corner was the first place I'd come for Royals news in the morning and the last place I'd go at night before bed. This is just very shocking. I never met Dave, but I'm very saddened and he will be missed.

Loss for words..........

This is my favorite Royals-themed website in existence... Heartbroken to hear of this news. Seemed like we just heard from him the other day. He will truly be missed! Thank you, Dave... For all you have done to make our lives easier and more enjoyable when discussing all things KC Royals.

RE: Dave Sanford passed away

I worked with Dave for many years as the publisher of the A's site. He was a terrific writer and photographer and extremely generous about sharing information and photos he gathered of teams I covered while he was covering the Royals. His love of the Royals and of baseball was obvious in every conversation that you had with him.

I was fortunate to have worked with him. He will be missed. My condolences to all of his friends and family and to the Royals community.

Re: Dave Sanford passed away

My condolences to the Sanford family. Dave's love for baseball was evident, as was his dedication to others. He went out of his way to give his time and resources so others could be successful and will be sorely missed.

I remember back in January of 2006 I was looking for a camera and had come across the sharp pictures he took of Royals' prospects and had reached out to him for advice. He sent me an email that was five pages deep to explain the features of the Sony DSC-H1 he was using at the time. He even did searches and linked to this model of camera, showing it dropped in price $200 from when he originally bought it. This is a small example of Dave Sanford, a fine human being and friend.

RIP

Wow, I can't believe this news. Always enjoyed Dave's take on the Royals as well as the good-natured KU/MU ribbing back and forth. Dave's RoyalsCorner was the first message board I ever visited and I've gotten a lot of laughs and baseball insight from this site the past 7 years. I'm just stunned.

I'll be sporting Royals gear at work on Jan. 15.

RIP Dave, sincerely adgar09/bobhamelin

On behalf of the Tigers site, TigsTown, and our team and fans, I also wish to pass along our condolences to the family and friends of Dave.

I communicated with Dave on occasion when he was a member of Scout MLB publisher team, and can't express what a tragic loss this is.

May he Rest In Peace.

This is truly sad news. My condolences go out to all his family and friends.  I have followed this site for years and if it weren't for him it wouldn't be possible. I will make sure that southern New Mexico is covered in Royal blue on the 15th.

Wow.  Had no idea.  This is terrible.

I always enjoyed Dave's posts (especially the politics!).  He will be missed around here.  Thoughts and prayers with his family.

I will definitely wear Royals gear on the 15th!

ETA:  I'm not into fancy photo editing...but perhaps folks can use this if we do the avatar swap on 1/15

RE: Dave Sanford passed away

My heartfelt condolences to the entire family, both by blood and by bleeding Royals blue.

RC was my go-to on tv shows in Misc. and liked him. Will miss seeing his name on here, and his witty posts.

I always got him and RoyalsChristopher confused, and I used to think they were one and the same person, or brothers or something.

I wasn't around back in the days when this forum started, but it's my #2 surf spot when I wake up (after mlbtraderumors, but before FB), just because the collection of misfits he gave a home to never fail to disappoint, with the banter back and forth, the love for the team, the crazy trade scenarios, the snarky replies, the cries for the 5 star system and even (as much as i hate it) Friday quotebox day. Thanks to Dave's vision for the board, I never would know what everyone's favorite pie is, and I would not have had my epic run-ins with KK.

Thank you for what you have done for us fans, Dave. May your family cherish your closeness and memory forever, and celebrate your life you shared, instead of mourn what was lost. We will carry you with us in spirit during the parade this year, and many and all of us will look skyward when we take the World Series to give you a quick shout out.
