Friend of Ned, I guess. The bench coach doesn't really matter that much, so whatever. I'm just glad it's not Kendall so we don't have to hear about how he is being groomed to replace Ned.

Well...according to the Chicago Tribune, the reasons for firing are the same Ned could use some serious help with.  Not sure what to think of the hire after reading this piece.

Looking at the glass half-full, adding a former manager should be a good thing for this ball club even if he is just a bench coach.

However, it was apparent that Epstein and his staff were disappointed with other areas in which Sveum was to be evaluated, such as the development of young players, in-game decision-making, use of the 25-man roster, the ability to “create a culture of accountability, hard work and preparation, and the ability to develop a strong trust with his players.”

I couldn't stand Kendall the player when we had him, but I wouldn't be upset to have him groomed as a replacement. Kendall was a hell of a player, just not so much with us.

2013 Royals + 10% improvement from all hitters - Santana + Dave Sveum = Playoffs.

We're slowing becoming the Atlanta Braves AND the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers is all I think of when I hear the names Yost and Sveum.

Would it be all that bad to be the Braves?

It's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."

I like the move. Anyone who has worked with Theo Epstien for several years can hopefully bring some good things to the table. Seemed to do a good job in Chicago just didnt have the talent

According to MLBtraderumors Eddie Rodruigez wont be back... thats unfortunate. I think hes one of the better 3b coaches in baseball

Losing Eddie would be a pretty big loss IMO.  I agree with your assessment of him as one of the best 3rd base coaches in the game.

It looks to me like Sveum might end up being the 3rd base coach.  He will be coaching the infielders which I think is what Eddie Rodriquez was doing.  It appears to me that we may still be looking for a bench coach.

Which can only mean one thing, Jason Kendall will be the manager and Ned Yost will be the bench coach.

WTF. I REALLY hope we don't lose Eddie Rodriguez.

If he wanted to leave or got a better offer, then more power to him. If our front office or Ned wanted him out......they're idiots. Possibly the best 3B coach I've seen. We did really, really well taking the extra base and going from 3rd to home.

Can anyone confirm this?

If they are going to add Kendell id prefer it be bench coach and Sveum as 3b coach. Only because Sveum has been a 3b coach before, and thats a tough job to learn on the fly

UPDATE per MLB Trade Rumors website:

"The Royals also announced that the contracts of third base coach Eddie Rodriguez and bench coach Chino Cadahia will not be renewed, so it's possible that Sveum will fill one of those vacancies."

Did you also know that Milwaukee is the only city to elect three socialist mayors?
