I think Dayton has done a great job...

I think Dayton has done a great job...

I really don't get all the hatred towards this man.  He had a plan in July of 2006 on how to build a team and he has done it.  2013 was his 7th draft.  He said it would take 8-10 years.

He has made mistakes and I'm sure he'd even admit that, but overall I think he's done an outstanding job.  Sure it's frustrating it hasn't happened sooner, but I admire the man for having a plan and sticking to it.  It can't be easy in today's game to have a plan and be constantly criticized for sticking with it.  Like it or not, this organization is in the best position to succeed on a yearly basis since the mid 80's.  Dayton has done a much better job than Herk and Allard.

As far as Yost goes, he's earned his extension and he deserves to be here.  I really don't get all the hatred towards the bunting.  I won't go into how much easier it is to score from second than first.  I won't go into how the number one objective that is overlooked in baseball in my opinion is keeping runners off second base to avoid the big inning.  And I won't go into the mental aspect of hitting that isn't taught enough to allow hitters to develop.  But I will go into the fact that Yost and Moore have earned the right to have an extension based on the team's performance and that we should support them.

he only said it's take 8-10 years around 4 years into his plan. If he said 8-10 years on day one, I'm not sure there'd be much patience with that

I think he's progressing and deserves some credit. But until he reaches the playoffs none of us should be satisfied...if i were Glass in would be asking "how did the As replace their entire pitching staff and pick up Reddick, Lowrie, Moss and Cespedes for less money and higher drafting positions than us?" "Why does their team always score more runs than us?" "How come it took 7 years for your scouts and developers to produce a guy who MIGHT be a staring pitcher for us? Didnt I spend millions on signing bonuses for guys who aren't even in our system anymore?" Again he deserves credit, but there's a good bit of mistakes that have delayed "the process" that should be acknowledged...

Hey give him a break. The soviets and Chinese revise their timetables every 5 years...

This.

Dayton Moore has moved the ball more frequently than anyone we've seen since "Lucy" of "Peanuts" fame.

That's a cautionary tale of what can happen if you fire your GM...it can always get worse....as long as he's moving the ball downfield I wouldn't fire him as owner...but I would ask those questions above....I MIGHT fire him if I didn't like the answers.....

I think he's done a good job, except for in the years where he hasn't.

I think Moore actually gets more heat for things he says in interviews than moves and decisions hes actually made... If you followed every GM the way we follow DM youd find stupid things they say... Heres one from the new darling of the stat world

Everyone is talking about the Astros, and the only topic is how bad everyone is convinced they’re going to be. ”We will outperform the expectations,” Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said with some confidence, and also with a smile.

Safe to say that didnt happen. should he be fired?? I mean the whole thing is stupid. I wish GM's just wouldnt give interviews

At least thats an actual baseball move, but the first couple posts of this thread were "he said it takes 8-10 years".. who cares

Not to brag btw but the yuni trade turned out exactly how I said it would... now signing him the 2nd time was bad

I'm just saying I think Dayton has done an outstanding job. It bothers me that anyone with a keyboard and internet access can be a better general manager and manager than what we have. I wish more people would respect what they've done, the hard work that they've put in and actually support them. Why are we so quick to point out their faults but not give them enough credit when they do make smart moves?

I'd love to post more and talk baseball all day long, but the amount of posters on here who are immature and can't have a civilized discussion is disappointing.

I wish there more like you....for the love of god keep posting.....I can easily see next years team making the playoffs, they might pull back a bit instead, baseball is a tough business. Like I said, he's done an outstanding job removing the bag from my head...now, make a good move or two this offseason and take us to the next level....

I'll give the guy credit.  The team was hella fun to watch this season.  But six of the seven seasons have been losing seasons, often filled with idiocy.  Are we not able to criticize?  We're the consumers, we should be able to criticize the product when it's shoddy.

People keep saying 6 losing seasons which is technically true, but needs a little perspective. Those first 3 maybe 4 years I dont care who the GM was our chances of winning were VERY small. I mean if we had done everything right AND gotten lucky MAYBE we get to .500, and even then you were stretching. So I dont think you can say 7 season as if each season should be evaluated and counted the same. You cant really do that

No. You can only criticize the product if you can do a better job than Dayton yourself.

You Have 5 minutes.

Go.

Why does this have so many responses? Clearly a parody post. Look at his commentary on bunting.
