Bad news for the Yankees as Curtis Granderson just broke his fore-arm (hit by pitch) and will be out 10 weeks.

6 hits by the Royals, plates 4 runs in the top half of the 1st. Alcides hits a triple to drive in the first run of the game.

Tough break for Granderson who seems like a good guy. Not sorry it happened to theeeeeeeee Yankees. Old habits die hard. Keeping depth in ST camp is important - never know who will need an extra _______ because of injury. Teams will call on Chen, Hochevar and Mendoza by end of ST. Glad to see Lamb is pitching today. He is a guy I am following closest in camp. I believe his recovery and move through minors is one of the key stories to follow. If healthy and effective, Lamb could be a factor in KC by end of season. I don't think they'll rush him but he has the ability to move quickly. Still young, too. I really like the potential rotation in NWA with Lamb, Ventura and Adam.

Salvador Perez makes it 3 for 3 on the day with a single to right.
Then scores on a Frenchy triple. That's the third triple on the day (btwn both teams).

That's a high quality pun my friend! I have CC on my Fantasy Baseball team & I would be joyed if he missed the season to stick it to the Yankees. My hate for them will never grow cold. Revisroyalsfan wrote:

Anyone in Surprise see Lamb pitch? The kids over at RR were having a meltdown over his velocity and rehab laziness.

I think we should probably see another outing or two before judging anything, but I know freaking out is more fun

I was there and I don't know that you can take much away from the outing. His velocity was obviously not there, but I don't know that it's worth freaking out about. He may have been instructed to take it easy out there and not cut loose. I also don't know that it's that unusual for the velocity to take a while to come back 100%.
He threw a couple changeups which had nice separation velocity-wise, although he wasn't locating perfectly with it. He also struck out his final batter with a good looking curve. The double would have been caught on an ordinary day. The wind here in AZ is ridiculous today with 30 mph gusts. The ball got caught up in those winds and I also think the CF (I can't recall who was playing out there at the time, maybe Durango?) lost it in the sun as it was coming down.

RE: Gameday 2-24-2013
He had pretty much the same velocity as Lackey did in his first start this spring. The guys at RR (or Rany) being hyperbolic? Can't imagine that. Now if he's still throwing 88 in May we can get worried. The only way to build velocity is to throw and he's doing that healthy right now which is a real good sign. Lazy rehab? He lost 50 fricken lbls...

Dutton says he touched 89 today and was low 90's pre injury. Sounds like to me he just isnt all the way back yet

Too much analysis and micromanaging of every pitch. Give the kid a break. I'm thrilled to see him pitching in the big league camp and competing again. He has a little tme before declaring him a bust.

I'm thrilled to see him pitching in the big league camp and competing again. He has a little tme before declaring him a bust. I agree. I think there is so much analysis now days on everything that we end up out smarting ourselves. Also many of the people that favor the "new school" way of developing pinching dont like the way the Royals(and many other teams) do it so they are going to pounce on everything that fits their argument. I dont mind the new ideas of pitching development I can see much of it being useful, but I dont see any evidence that the pitchers are any better off
