NEW WEBSITE UPDATE - Suggestions for improvement?

NEW WEBSITE UPDATE - Suggestions for improvement?

The name of the website has been agreed upon.  I'm waiting for Fox Sports Next to finish securing the domain name and linking it to this site.

Right now I'm working on tweaking some things on the site (you won't see any changes until all the tweaks are done).  I've done moderating work on the forums, but only a few of you would know about that.

My goal is to provide you with information that you won't be able to get by reading newspapers, magazines, MLBTraderumors, etc.  I can tell you that the first thing you'll see is the slow release of my top 30 prospect list.  It won't be as detailed as I would like this year because I haven't had a chance to secure all the relationships.  Some of our prospects I have quite a bit of information on, other I do not.

I'll be heading down to Spring Training at the first of March, and I will be able to provide you with interviews and stories that you won't be able to find anywhere else.  I'm also working on securing some writers that live near our minor-league affiliates to provide more in-depth reporting on the minor leagues.

If any of you would like to do any writing, please let me know.  If you would like to be a moderator, please let me know.  If there is some other role you would like to perform (fluff boys need not apply), please let me know.

The site as you know it right now will remain free.  However, I'm looking to build a subscriber base (this is where most of my compensation comes from), so many of the new articles/features on this site will become subscriber-only.  I'm bound by Fox Sports Next to certain price guidelines.  That being said, I do have the opportunity to offer some special deals.  What prices/deals would be fair and convince you to want to become a subscriber?

What it all boils down to is this:

This is your site.  What do you want?  What changes/additions would you like to see?  Does the site have anything now that you think is unnecessary?

I look forward to offering a more complete introduction to me and the website in the next week or so (fingers are crossed).  In the meantime, I'll be working on small changes to the website, and I would appreciate any suggestions that you might have.  Please use this thread to discuss things you would like to see.

Ryan

P.S.  One of the posters on this site will receive a free subscription for suggesting a name very similar to the new site name.

I would advice you to not become one of "those" publishers who charges for all of the good stuff.  Obviously the boards should remain free but I would advice a certain amount of free articles because if they are good people might decide to poney up for a subscription so they can read all the stuff.

Glad to have you on board and to have a publisher again.  Grats man.

This sounds very promising, Ryan, and I wish you the best of luck.

As for subscribing to content, I'd need to see what that content was before ponying up money. You might consider a free trial period for that.

Other than that, yes, please get rid of the trolls. As ChiTown would say, they angry up my blood.

Do you have press creds? Will you have physical proximity to Ryan Lefebvre? Can you make him stop talking in excruciating detail about, well, everything he talks about?

You know what I would really like? I would like full, complete, unabridged, and unedited A/V of every pre- and post-game press conference during the season. FSKC graces us with about 90 seconds of the post-game presser, the radio team usually a little more...but I have yet to find anyone who provides the full presser after each game.

Along these lines, can you get a microphone for the press who do ask questions during the post game so that there is some context to what Ned is saying.  Drives me nuts to watch him look into the back of room at someone who is speaking but you can't hear anything and then hear him launch into an answer about a question you now have to try and guess.

Can you take care of that?  If you can I might be willing to buy a subscription.

Wow. This is great. I read everything on here, just don't reply, ever. Would there be a private chatroom for people that are paid subscribers? I assume none of the trolls are going to pay to have access, so a private chatroom would offer the same topics without all the stupid bs.

So you think the technology/access that I have is better than 610 AM or FSKC?

A chatroom is a possibility, but I don't think it would work logistically.  We wouldn't have enough people in the chatroom to make it effective.  There will be a members-only forum that will have some of the same topics.

May all your plans work out. It is generally a thankless task to be publisher and try to beat the established press and reporters to the news. But I do believe that it would be much easier to do with a winning team in a pennant race to talk about, and I'll hope for that, too.

I'd think you'd have better access to the raw content, and perhaps make it available in its entirety.  They're already recording it, why not make the whole thing available online?

Are you talking about porn?  Or maybe that supposed Keitzman recording?

I can look into it, but I'm not expecting a lot of help.  I think if FSKC wanted it to be online, they would put it online themselves.  I could be wrong though.

To be honest, I'm not sure what kind of connection I can form with FSKC.  Even though we are both owned by Fox, nothing I've read in all the "stuff" that was sent to me from Fox/Scout mentioned any connections to the television side of things.  I'll do some checking though.

RE: NEW WEBSITE UPDATE - Suggestions for improvement?

I think what they were trying to get at is this:

A) Will you have press credentials?

B) If yes, will you be allowed in to the post game press conference?

C) If yes, can you please record it with your own recorder and make it available to us?

I had a fairly cheap voice recorder a couple years ago ($75) that could pick up voices across a large room. Surely you'll also have a voice recorder that can do the same.

Good to have a Publisher again.  Hopefully the site will be for everyone, and I can once again share baseball with my Grandkids on the site.  Please keep Beavis & Butthead under control.

Re: NEW WEBSITE UPDATE - Suggestions for improvement?

That's what I meant, actually. I don't care that people have crazy ideas as to what the team should do (Kenny!). I just get sick of reading stuff that has nothing to do with baseball.

If I have to read one more conversation about codys holy wars, I'm going to beat my head into a wall!
