Do you care about Arod contract?

Do you care about Arod contract?

Which would you prefer:

A) Arod play poorly with multiple stints on disabled list. Basically have the Yanks waste a roster spot and $114 million over the next 5 years. Screws the Yankees...but we have to hear about him for 5 more years

B) Arod get released for PED use...full embarrassment, he loses the $114 million. Screws Arod...and we're doone hearing about him.

Don't care either way. Arods contract is almost assuredly insured by Yanks so their best case scenarios are he doesn't play enough to cause the insurance to be activated or his contract is able to be voided by some drug use lauds.....either way, the best thing for us Yankee haters is that Arods plays, plays shi$$y and plays enough to keep insurance from activating.....

I hope he is washed up AND the Yankees can't unload his contract.

It doesn't really matter anyway. Since when has money really mattered to the Yankees? I think there was a time back in the 1980's when they cared about money, but they got over it when Brien Taylor crapped the bed.

I agree with gregslaten. Money means nothing to the Yankees. I want Arod to continue to play at a low level for them, and cost them games. There's no way in hell they unload a contract on an old 'roided out turd for that kind of money. I hope he swings and misses on a 98 MPH pitch from Danny Duffy, his spleen explodes and he's rushed to the nearest HGH clinic on a stretcher.

Pretty sure he has to be completely unable to play for them to collect.  Doctors have to rule he's physically unable.

I guess they could get doctors to rule him unable to play, but that would be fraud.

Re: Do you care about Arod contract?

Bowden talked about this on XM....in order for Arods insurance to activate, he has to miss the majority of the 2013 season. This is the typical contract insurance that teams buy on long term contracts. The insurance itself is not cheap since it costs millions for policy that protects the 100+ million contract for Arod. The reason for the delay in Arods surgery is a medical reason. He must strengthen certain muscles in his hip area BEFORE the surgery or his rehab will take much longer and it will jeapardize the surgeries poeptentisl success. So in truth, he's already under care of Drs who will determine his playing time in 13 and beyond. I doubt any Dr would commit fraud that could be easily discovered by another physician. Insurance companies are the worlds oldest and best "sabermaticians". They are not stupid.

Even if the Yankees collect on the insurance, I bet Arod's contract would count when it comes to revenue sharing numbers. It's obvious the Yankees have been trying not to spend wildly of late. In fact, it sure looks like they are trying to get payroll under control. The Yankees are old and bloated. The situation with their third baseman is a good thing, regardless, for those of us who can't stand them. P.S. Arod and Tiger and Armstrong are pretty much the same guy in my mind.

The Yankees are definitely looking a bit 80s. They won a lot of games in 80s. Spent a lot of money. But didnt touch playoffs. I think this may be their future...

Re: Do you care about Arod contract?

Best scenaro is AROD play and play horribly.  Yanks put him on DL and have docs claim he is physicially unable to play.  Yanks  collect insurance.  Insurance sues for fraud after AROD appears on Dancing with the Stars and wins.  Yankees pay big money to insurance company and have to release AROD and pay him the rest of his deal.

A well rest AROD signed with Royals for the minimum since Yanks still are paying him on his contract and moves to Right Field and hits 50 HRs leading the Royals to a WS victory.

I agree.

I know the Yanks have tons of money, but having to pay for A-Rod or getting a 100 million back is a big difference and would help them be able to to overspend on more studs.

Lets Go Cats!!!

This!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself!!  It is hard to feel sorry for a team who can afford to pay 3 guys our entire salary budget for 1 year.  Yes maybe, just maybe they see why salary caps and aren't the stupidest idea in the world.

I'd like to know when teams will stop caving to Bora$$' crazy demands. ARod wasn't worth the 1st crazy 10 year contract he voided (roided?), let alone the 2nd one.

RE: Do you care about Arod contract?

for me it depends. If the Stiebrener boys are serious about staying at the 189 million dollar luxury tax limit then id like to see them stuck having every penny of that on their payroll. If however they are just going to blow past it and not think twice id just assume he be released and suffer the embaresment

Coroyal I dont think Boras has the power over baseball that he once did. hes pretty limited on what he can do in the draft now. His midteir players arent getting the massive contracts they were several years ago(bourn this year, Jackson last). His top players are still getting paid sure, but so are everyone else
