RE: Royals sign Endy Chavez
how to get fans to cheer for Frenchy and support him?
sign a platoon partner with a lower OPS than him..
Championship!

It's a minor league deal. He'll play for Omaha if that.

you think so? sorry..i don't.
I think he's our new 4th OF'er which means Dyson is likely in AAA

If Dyson or Lough isn't the fourth outfielder it's because they signed someone better (not Chavez) or they both got hurt. It's as simple as that. There's a chance, ever so slightly, that he's the fifth outfielder, but I don't see that either.

nm. you were right...whew! Royals signed OF Endy Chavez to a minor league contract. He'll be given an invitation to spring training. Chavez batted just .203/.236/.278 over 64 games this past season for the Orioles but should have a decent shot at a bench job in Kansas City.

most likely a depth signing. Cain is probably going to miss a chunk of time at some point

RE: Royals sign Endy Chavez
ok let's put it to the test.
they have Endy, Tavares and Nady to minor league deals.
is this)
A. them trying to load up on a platoon partner with Frenchy, taking the best of the 3 to platoon
or
B. Will be see a major league signing/trade to lock down a platoon partner
By Opening Day, we can see if you are in the know ;)

By Opening Day, we can see if you are in the know ;) It's neither. Taverez and Chavez are insurance because they know Cain is a china doll. Nady was signed as a guy who they were hopeful could provide some pop off the bench but they won't hesitate to cut him if he looks like he did last season. Right now, they have no platoon partner for Francoeur. Ryan Sweeney would make some sense, but they're going to give Lough a long look in spring training and see if he can play 70 games and get 250 at bats as a big leaguer.

Thought Chavez might be a good pickup until saw stats vs. RH were worse than Frenchy. Wow that terrible. David Lough is guy I hope gets a shot before Endy or Willy.

RE: Royals sign Endy Chavez
I think Dyson is a solid 4th OF. No power, but he has a solid arm with good defense as his routes should theoretically get better and I think he could put up a 700 OPS with 30 SB's. He will only be 28 next season. Certainly worse options out there.

Hitting aside, Endy is pretty well regarded defensively as a very good corner outfielder that gets to the ball and makes all the plays. I think thats what our pitching needs. Also a good baserunner and simply, veteran experience.

I am amazed that Dyson is a 50th fond pick.
