Crushed
I don't have a better word for my emotions right now. I have a kid in kindergarten. I can't fathom the level of depravity it would take to do this. I really can't.

Re: Crushed
This is crazy. Despite being a huge fan of guns, I really wish they would restrict high capacity magazines. Time spent reloading is less time killing folks. These rampage folks aren't common criminals that know where to buy a black market firearm or high cap mag. They rumble with whatever is freely available and legal.
This is easily the most despicable of the mass shootings. Just awful.

It's not a gun issue, it's an evil heart issue. Just today in China a dude went crazy and stabbed 22 school children. You can't regulate the heart my friend. http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2012/12/14/chin a-knife-attack-school.html

If you own and shoot guns, surely you realize that reloading a weapon, even just a magazine swap, can take many seconds, particularly under duress. It's easy to drop a mag when quickly transitioning. Ive been shooting for 28 years and even have some training and I will fumble with a magazine while shooting under no pressure at the range. A man with an evil heart can kill more people with two 30 rd mags than a man with an evil heart and six 10 rd mags. It's logic and common sense.

What makes an act like this seem rational to someone?

Yeah, I have a4 year old. I couldn't imagine her being taken from this World just two years from today. I hate guns and drugs. I can't wait to hear what trivial thing this kids mom did to him that made him think this was justified. Just Insane!

Come on bro, you're better than that. The motivation behind a Middle East bombing and a rampage shooter aren't even comparable. Then what about Oklahoma City? Fact is one or two bombs placed and detonated can do just as much if not more damage as a guy with guns. Is it rational, hell no but none of this is and if you take one device away from a crazy heartless bastard that wants to hurt people he will find another way.

At all. You know that. A militant with training in explosives versus a very unstable person looking to go out with a bang. And of course, I'm sure you realize that buying the materials to make a bomb are FAR more difficult because of that bombing. Just like it should be for high cap mags. I have a license to carry a concealed weapon and I carry EVERY DAY. So anyone that thinks this is about being a bleeding heart liberal can put that to rest. I don't give a crap about political implications. It is simple logic at work here.

Re: Crushed
It makes you realize how blessed we have been. There are over 320,000,000 people in our country. Studies have shown that psychopaths make up about 1% of the population which means there are around 3,000,000 psychopaths in our country. Not that all are capable of a horrific mass violent crime, or that people who aren't psychopaths aren't capable of horrific things, but it's amazing to me that there aren't more people out there who have snapped in a mass crime way in our past. Frightening. ryanluvstony wrote:

I don't give a crap about political implications. It is simple logic at work here. Its not that hard to make a bomb that would hurt people, nor would it be that difficult to come up with some sort of chemical device that could kill people. The one thing that usually comes out about these people are that most are pretty intelligent and spend a lot of time on the internet, so coming up with devices to hurt people would not be all that difficult if they have enough evil in their heart to hurt people. As far as the high capacity magazines goes I have no problem regulating them, but it won't keep them out of the hands of the crazy people that want to obtain them to hurt people. Even if it did, does it make it any less tragic if he only killed 5 or 10 kids?

Be logical, man. One life is too many and is tragic! No? --------------------------------------------- Yes one is too many. And two is more than one. And three is more than two. You see where I'm going. We can't protect everyone. But we can try to do better. Again, I LOVE guns. I grew up with them. I was given my first rifle at age 8. I shoot competitively, I carry daily, and I collect. I reload my own damn ammo. I feel comfortable saying I have absolutely no political bias on this matter, purely my own opinions drawn from logical thinking. Meet me at a gun range and I'll use two 30 rd mags in my mini 14 and you use six 10 rd mags and lets see just how many more targets I can take out in 1 minute. It will blow your mind. I'll be done when you load your 3rd magazine.

RE: Crushed
Steady I see what your saying and its not that I don't disagree with you, but I still say that no matter what you do these people that feel the need to do these things are going to do something one way or another. I respect that you support measures that would limit the number of victims, but even if he had come to the school with a knife and stabbed 5 or 10 kids it would have been just as tragic, especially to the family's of the kids that would have been killed.
The problem isn't with the mass killing device its the nut job carrying out the act of senseless and heartless violence.

You can't regulate nut jobs. They will exist. You can regulate high cap mags. There will always be tragedy. He would have still killed a bunch of people. But if you lost a child in this event, you might not have if things were different. A line must always be drawn. I don't want guns to go bye bye. But we already draw lines. You can't go buy a rocket launcher.
