This is just a total BS Lie....just an excuse for no movement at all at winter meetings seeing they are not willing to do anything necessary.

I dont think so.... There is really no reason to make an excuse for no movement. There was very little movement from anyone

I'm sick of hearing all these different numbers, its something different every frigging day!! Either people are making stuff up or there is way misleading information being floated around, I don't get how we can be over budget but yet supposedly offering Dempster 2/26....I don't think we will ever know how much money Glass makes or allows Dayton to spend.

So is Bob Dutton pretty much just paid to break bad news to the fans? I really don't get what else he even does...

Re: Dutton says Payroll over budget now...

They will continue to lose fans from this fiasco. There is no way that going over $58 mil for the 25 man would break the bank.  No way. And if somehow it did the Royals should be contracted by MLB. This is absolutely ridiculous.

If Glass is telling the truth - which I HIGHLY doubt - then he need to do every baseball fan in KC a favor and sell the team immedietly.  We want a WINNER!!  I would rather have no team than a team that never makes the playoffs.

RE: Dutton says Payroll over budget now...

I think this probably came about because people looked at previous years where the payroll was far below 70 million, pointed to it and said hey glass you made 20 million that year! And he replied well, that doesn't account for players on teh 40 man, etc etc.. I don't buy this whole over budget thing, it is just Glass trying to cover his ass

Seriously. If he is throwing a hissy-fit over the payroll he should just sell the team and not worry about it.

RE: Dutton says Payroll over budget now...

Maybe Bily Butler already knew this when he made his tweet regarding the powerball money and brining it to the stadium. He was wrong though when he said it would be put to good use. If what is being reported is true, then it is going to take some incredible luck on the Royals part to ever be competitive. We cant miss on anyone, any year.

This is such a load of bull ****. The money is there, Glass is just too damn cheap to spend it. I'm tired of this crap. If we go into the season with the rotation as it is now, we still have zero hope at beating the Tigers. Hey Glass and Dayton, I know a quick way to save some money, dump Frenchy however possible. I bet a team would take him if we eat half his contract. Too late now, but don't tender Hoch and Getz a contract! Hey, there's almost 10 million right there!

RE: Dutton says Payroll over budget now...

Pure. Garbage.

Dayton has spent money on players that don't deserve it, so he obviously isn't without blame. But if Glass is saying he's losing money if the major league payroll is over $57 million, well that's obviously completely false. Just ridiculous that they would insult fans' intelligence by even suggesting that.

Seriously, this article pisses me off more than a Myers for Shields trade, or Frenchy starting the entire season in RF.

My response via Twitter:

Better liar: # David Glass or # Stephen Glass? Tough call, but I'm going with David on this one. # Royals # *********

if this really is the payroll then we have no chance to win no matter who the GM is... I mean at 57 million even the Rays and A's think Glass is cheap

RE: Dutton says Payroll over budget now...

This quote from the article just made me feel like crying.

“Mr. Glass has gone above and beyond,” Moore said, “in supporting our team in everything we’ve wanted to do internationally, through the draft and in building and improving our major-league payroll. He’s been extremely supportive.
“We’ve signed virtually every single player who we’ve identified as being worthy of a long-term contract. Does he ask tough questions? Yeah, but there’s not anybody I’ve ever met who is more passionate or a better historian of the game. He owns a major-league team for all of the right reasons.”
