Re: Royals sign Jeremy Guthrie
ARP is the man. Disappointed that they had to guarantee the 3rd year.

Next on the list DFA Hochevar. We need 40 man roster space.

I respect the heck out of you Chup, but when everyone is screaming for pitching, and to spend money to get it, I see no room for griping about any of the details. --------------------------------------------- --- ElChupanibre wrote: ARP is the man. Great news! Just got another starting pitcher without having to trade away Wil Myers or any of our everyday players. Love it! Just need one more

Re: Royals sign Jeremy Guthrie
I'm dreaming of a club option for the 3rd year, but that is dreaming. I think we took the bait, didn't think anyone would give him 3 years. I like his makeup and think he is a dependable arm, and the small sample size at Kauffman is encouraging, but definietly a risk for 2015. Oh well, at least Glass is spending.
Better than Volstad.

Hoch has got to be gone today right? We need 40-man space for the Rule V deadline.

RE: Royals sign Jeremy Guthrie
Other teams may not have gone 3 years, but they may have gone 2 and that may have lured Guthrie away. We need pitching bad and Guthrie is the type of guy we need. I would still like to see them sign another pitcher along the lines of Santana and Guthrie...maybe Jackson.
I find it funny that for as bad as the pitching is people think we overpaid for Santana and gave Guthrie too long of a contract, what the hell else is KC supposed to do to get pitching to come to the Royals?
Santana and Guthrie are already the two best pitchers on the team and better than anything we had last year at this time.

Reserving judgment until $ amount is released. 3 years is not ideal

Santana and Guthrie are already the two best pitchers on the team and better than anything we had last year at this time. Quoted for Truth...until KC wins with what it has and attendance spikes (and maybe an ownership change), KC is not getting premium FAs on market value. I would hope most people who post here would get that.

Preferred 2 years, but beggars can't be choosers. Rotation of
1 ? 2 Guthrie 3 Santana 4 Mendoza 5 Odorizzi + depth
looks better than it did a month ago.

Re: Royals sign Jeremy Guthrie
I like it for a leadership to a staff and innings eater perspective. He is a good 3rd starter and if Santana can catch his cieling at #2 we are almost there. 1 more starter.

RE: Royals sign Jeremy Guthrie
This move will be ideal if they now DFA Hochevar. 2 birds.
Also - This might make trading Myers/Butler/Hosmer easier to stomach. If you add Hellickson or Moore to that rotation we're in business.
