Rondo wants out, how do mavs get in!

Rondo wants out, how do mavs get in!

Rondo has put the Celtics on the clock ,he is on the last year for 12 million a year. Would the mavs even trade for him with the risk of losing him after this season ? Or do you think a a kevin love like "wink wink" deal where they would have to be sure he would sign and stay here would have to be agreed on before for them to even bite. Would they take Gerald Wallace horrible contract to get Rondo?

I dont really see us trading for him would probably cost us Monta and 2 first round picks and I don't see MBT doing that. Plenty of other teams can give them good trade packages.

To Dallas : Rondo + Bass

To Phx : B Wright + Ledo or Crowder + Felton + 2 Dallas 1st + 1 Boston 1st

To Boston : Bledsoe + Phx filler

Won't work with Smart just being drafted by Boston.

Re: Rondo wants out, how do mavs get in!

it would probably require either giving up ellis + other assets or all 3 unprotected 1st rounders the mavs can trade + other assets.

i'm just not all that big on trading ellis for any reasonable player they could get for him. it would probably have to be some absolute slam dunk of a trade for the mavs, but then most likely the other team wouldn't be interested in the deal in that case.

the one advantage the mavs have in potentially going after bledsoe or rondo is that pg is easily the most stacked position in the league. that alone likely cuts down the number of interested teams quite considerably. if bledsoe and rondo were big men with good lost post games for instance, you'd probably have a lot more teams possibly pursuing them.

say rondo did give the mavs a "wink wink" deal that he'd resign here. what would be the most you'd be willing to give up for him in a trade in that case?

honestly if rondo insists on going to a team with any realistic shot at title contention, he doesn't have a lot of choices.  every team that fits that description already has an all-star or near all-star starting point guard except for one biggrin.

Watch the
video
Felton was very good player
And if he returns to that player
The Mavs have a sold 3 PG rotation
At the price of Rondo

Dallas gives up to many first in this deal, and I think Wright would go to PHX and Bass stay in BOS unless they just wanna get rid of him, but you gotta ask yourself, is Rondo really worth giving up Wright for? Idk until I see him play.

Re: Rondo wants out, how do mavs get in!

"Rondo wants out, how do Mavs get in!"

Rondo isn't an easy trade target to evaluate. No one has any idea what Ainge will try to get, or if he'll even be traded..

1 For Dallas
"How do the Mavs get in" is answered by a different question: Do the Mavs want in? Rondo was decidedly mediocre last year, and his ability to hit the open shot and space the floor for Ellis is non-existent. He might fit in some ways, but he might be awful in others. Eventually he will cost a lot of money to keep, and if you can't justify the contract, you can't offer much in trade.

2 For the rest of the league
Other teams are going to have those same questions, which will thin the market.
Then some will already have PGs they like better, further thinning the market.
Then there will be those who are lukewarm because he will be a FA next summer, and they can get him at no cost if they wait, further thinning the trade market.
And some won't want to pay him big money next summer, further thinning the market.

I don't know if that leaves 5 teams or none, but there may not be enough to create the bidding war that Ainge would hope for.

I am Junkie.....Junkie I am

and for those who may  wonder

I do not like green eggs and ham

nor RajonRondo here, or anywhere or in a can

I do not like his game of hoops
too pricey for me with shortcomings to boot
Would you like Rondo here or there ???
I would not like him here for sure
he can just stay put or go anywhere

So the Rockets would have no interest? Although not in contention, why not "show-time" with Kobe?

Yep, he is probably a Celtic for life, just like paul pierce. His motivation to win a championship elsewhere won't be very high. It's the same with paul gasol and lamar odom. Hungry veterans like jameer nelson, Ellis and co. are much better for our team.

Re: Rondo wants out, how do mavs get in!

I see the Mavericks going hard on this, since Mark Cuban has been wanting a guy like Rondo forever especially a guy who can defend. So I expect a 3 way team trade for it to happen probably between mavs, suns and boston. Will See Even houston might come into play, but they have nothing to offer. Will see how it goes. Hopefully we get him, retain his bird rights and re sign him.

Why would either of those teams make much of an offer? Because they are slated to have a ton of cap room, they can get him for free (as far as having to give up any assets) in free agency next summer. If you have to outbid everyone next summer anyhow (and you undoubtedly will) in order to keep him, you probably don't want to also give up talent to have him, if you have a choice.

However, I'm not sure he's a fit on either team.

If I'm Houston, I'd rather have Beverley, I think. Good defender, but also able to shoot.

I'm not sure if he's a fit w LAL either. They prefer a PG alongside Kobe who can shoot, spacing the floor to open up lanes for Kobe to attack. That's not Rondo

(As a side note, if I'm the Mavs, and could have my choice of Rondo or Beverley as a FA next summer, give me Beverley.)

Re: Rondo wants out, how do mavs get in!

I would many times over rather have Bledsoe, but because both he and the Suns are idiots, that's not going to happen. banghead

Brandan Wright - no rebounding, no defense, no problem. #kingofplusminus
