TRADE: KLove to CLE for Wiggins/Bennett/2015-1st

Sources: Cavs have agreement for Kevin Love, including long-term contract commitment. Wiggins, Bennett, pick to Minn. http://yhoo.it/XHoSQg

RC: "We've seen Parsons be a very effective defensive player."
Cuban: "I talk to NBA scorers and ask, ‘Who defended you the best? Who’s the top three?’ And Parsons was on a couple lists."

Love for Wiggins/Bennett/pick, as @WojYahooNBA reports, about the price most expected. By far the best offer on the table for Minnesota.

For Love, it's never been really been about the market. It's about winning and getting paid. In Cleveland, he gets both.

Re: TRADE: KLove to CLE for Wiggins/Bennett/pick

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement in principle to send All-Star forward Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Andrew WigginsAnthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-round draft pick, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Cleveland is making the deal with Minnesota with a firm agreement Love will opt out of his contract in 2015 and re-sign with the Cavaliers on a five-year, $120 million-plus contract extension, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The deal cannot be finalized until Aug. 23, because Wiggins, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, cannot be traded until one month after the signing of his rookie contract. The two teams have agreed to the deal, but neither would have recourse if the other decided to pull out of the arrangement before it can be formally completed this month. No third team is involved in the Cavaliers-Timberwolves trade agreement.

The precise deal terms have been agreed upon for weeks, but the teams and Love plan to stay silent about the particulars until the trade is announced in 16 days, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Love will join superstar LeBron James and Kyrie Irving to create the most devastating trio in the NBA and will instantly make the Cavaliers frontrunners to win the NBA championship.

Part of the Cavaliers' motivation in making the deal for Love was a belief Love would have ended up with the rival Chicago Bulls in a trade and created a significant obstacle in the Eastern Conference, sources said. Cleveland wouldn't have had the salary-cap space to sign Love next summer and could have only obtained him through the trade with Minnesota in a deal now.

Wiggins is the centerpiece of the package for Minnesota. The Timberwolves see superstar potential in the forward out of Kansas. Bennett, the No. 1 pick in the 2013 draft, has shown signs of progress after a difficult start to his rookie season.

The T'wolves had hopes of unloading contracts in a Love deal, but that won't be happening. Minnesota still has a goal of freeing itself of J.J. Barea, Luc Mbah a Moute and Alexey Shved, league sources said.

Love informed the Timberwolves he would not return to the team after opting out of his contract next summer, and pushed them to make a trade before the start of this coming season.

Love, 25, is a three-time NBA All-Star. He averaged 26 points and 12.5 rebounds for the Timberwolves last season. For his career, he's averaged 19 points and 12.2 rebounds.

Love/Wiggins trade becomes official in 16 days.

Love and LBJ could become the best pick and pop combination...ever. LeBron unstoppable. Love nearly 40% from midrange last season.

40% from midrange is not impressive.

It is pretty funny how the narrative of LeBron and his "I'm Coming Home" makes him a good guy again. When all he really did was leave Cleveland to a great situation in Miami. After that team became washed up, he decides to leave to a much better situation.

Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine are going to create their own highlight reel next season. SportsCenter Top 10 every night.

LeBron. Love. Kyrie. Now that's a Big 3.

But NOT as good as Lebron / Bosh / Wade. I cannot believe how people think Kyrie is all that special...he is NOTHING compared to how good Wade has been.

He's not even worth the contract he just signed. Very overrated Imo too.

But playing next to LeBron definetely should help his game. At least to some degree.

Re: TRADE: KLove to CLE for Wiggins/Bennett/2015-1st

Its a good move for both teams...
Cleveland becomes an instant championship contender.
Minnesota gets 3 young, high ceiling players or picks, with Wiggins being a potential superstar for a guy who wouldn't stay there. Add those guys to Rubio and you really got something.

As far as the stars...
Lebron is already part of another BIG 3, but the other 2 are much younger.
For Love, the money would be there anywhere; contending and playing with Lebron is nice, but why would anyone want to be in Cleveland?

Yes, it will help, but Wade has been an elite two way player....and frankly Kyrie isn't even an elite one way player.

This is scary only because Lebron doesn't have to play "out of position" (if thats even possible for him) at the 4. He can play the 3 and sometime even the 2 (with Marion at the 3) and completely dominate smaller players in every phase of the game. Exciting time to be a fan in Cleveland.

Yeah, 40% from midrange translates to 0.8 PPS. Value-wise, that's like shooting 26.6% from 3. But yeah, not everybody can be a 50% midrange shooter like Dirk, of course.

Totally agree. One could argue that Cleveland overpaid, but Love just fits perfectly to them right now. Minny did get a great return for a guy who would have left in 12 months anyway.

I think a lot of people have the same thinking that I did. Miami's biggest holes were at PG and C, the last 4 years. The logic is that by playing alongside Irving, that addresses one of those holes. However, with no Wade, it presents a massive hole at SG, and Irving can't quite make up for that. Mario Chalmers was at least decent defensively, so a Chalmers/Wade back court is going to be better than an Irving/Waiters one.

Wade also helped open things up for Lebron being the other wing player, which is probably why Lebron wants Mike Miller and James Jones, because he knows he needs shooters to open the floor for him.
