Dirk deal finalized 3 years $25 million

ESPN sources say Dirk Nowitzki has taken bigger pay cut than previously thought. Deal finalized today at three years, $25 mil for Mavs lifer

— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 15, 2014

Anticipated deal for Dirk was a structure like Tim Duncan's deal w/Spurs, but he took $5 mil less to help facilitate Chandler Parsons move

— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 15, 2014

Story going online now detailing how Rockets AND Lakers called w/max offers for Nowitzki, but he rebuffed all outside interest to stay w/DAL

Wow, this is the most humble star in pro sports history.

When he retires we need not just one statue outside of him.....need about 5 of them surrounding the AAC.

Have to assume 3rd year is still a player option, with a no trade clause.

Best bargain in the NBA, and more than a basketball player, he represents this city unlike any professional athlete that we are likely to ever see..

He still surprises me with how unselfish he is. We are so lucky to have him be the face of the franchise

By my math, cap hit this year would be $7,751,938 (7.5% raises)

That's awesome. Great guy to help facilitate Parson's deal. We couldn't have saved a couple million from that Parsons deal to get VC at 2 yrs at 8 million and have an elite bench too??

Re: Dirk deal finalized 3 years $25 million

10 million a year for 3 years sounded great
7.5  million for 3 years sounds even more great

Dirks love, loyalty and sacrifice for this team, for the fans for us to win again shows his character. Lakers offered him max, rockets offered him max and he said f you guys, i'm staying here. Where i belong!

DIRK WE LOVE YOU, WE WILL NEVER TAKE YOU FOR GRANTED, PLEASE DON'T RETIRE.

I think i wanna cry now :(

**** THAT MANS WE HAVE EVEN MORE MONEY FOR NEXT YEAR TO GO FOR RONDO!!!

It's funny how DWade signed for his overpayed contract today and it's front page in espn. I wonder what they'll do for dirk. Probably nothing unfortunatly..

Re: Dirk deal finalized 3 years $25 million

Because of his tenure he gets a no trade clause (also available to Devin if he wants it).

I would say this speaks volumes about Dirks thoughts on what the Mavs have done with his money this offseason.

What a class guy. So blessed to have been able to see that awkward goofy teenager with the bowl cut grow into the face of a franchise.

Tip of the cap to the Mavs Roger Staubach.

Two points:

1. Dirk is AWESOME. We already know this, but still. He could have gotten, what, $20 mil or so a season, and he's taking $25 mil over three to stay here? Wow.

2. Does this mean the Mavs have more cap room?

Re: Dirk deal finalized 3 years $25 million

I guess I picked the wrong thread to post in this one will most likely stay as the other one will be locked...

so here is what I wrote in the other thread about this:

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG!

And this comes RIGHT after I read that article about Dirk in the oterh thread by Sheridan!

Dirk is truly the GREATEST OF ALL TIME IMO!

Not so much as the greatest player(although he is in discussion IMO for top 10-12 for performance alone)
but as the greatest player and person ever to have played the game.

The guy's unselfishness goes beyond boundaries and he continually steps up his loyalty and his dedication to the team more than any other sports figure I have EVER witnessed period.

Without Dirk we never wina championship, without Dirk Dallas remains a laughing stock of the NBA, without Dirk we wouldn't have been able to get Chandler in the first place without him taking a lesser deal then, and then now AGAIN he takes a FAR FAR FAR lesser deal just to get Parsons on board and now even less than originally reported to add one or two more pieces?!?!?!?!?!?

When he leaves Dallas we will just never be the same...
