Re: Random Off-Season Ideas II (trades, free agency, draft,

To me its looking like

CP3 signs with Clippers
Dwight to Hou/LAL

C- We should focus on getting one of Okafor/Gortat/Asik (if Dwight goes to Houston) in a trade  (even if we have to give up our pick)

Resign Brandan Wright and have Sarg at 3rd string

PG - Sign one of Calderon, Brandon Jennings, Jack, Collison,
Then with either #13 or #44 draft a backup pg

SG - Sign one of Mayo, Corey Brewer (Don't want Tony Allen he has no offensive game)

or focus on getting Courtney Lee or Afflalo in a trade Both would be perfect for us

Vince Carter = 6th man

Then Resign A. Morrow for backup SG

PF - Set with Dirk and resign Brandan Wright

SF - Set with Marion, Carter, and Crowder

There was a rumor going around on REALGM.com that the Bucks want Monta Ellis back more then they do Branden Jennings and I believe if the MAVS really wanted to, they could get Branden Jennings easily.. And the odds of the Bucks matching anything is a pretty small odds! noidea

That sounds terrible. Unfortunately that's probably the best we can hope for.

I'd bet a good amount of money Calderon is our starting PG next year. I have no idea who else we can get that would fit in well here. It's too bad there aren't centers out there. I could see Cubes taking a chance on Bynum. I think the market for Bynum is not as big as ppl think.

Canaan and Ledo might be gone in the first round but I like them too. Solomon Hill will probably be there at #44 and he would be a good pick there ... Also Trevor Mbwake at 44 would be good

Re: Random Off-Season Ideas II (trades, free agency, draft,

Assuming Mavs strike out on CP3 & D12, I expect their plan will be similar to last summer where they sought to acquire high potential youth hoping to hit it big.

The primary difference this summer, however, is Cuban's position that they will sign all to 4 year deals.

I think this has multiple reasons:

1.  More attractive to the free agent leading to higher quality players
2.  Avoid the Mayo free fall
3.  Once signed, they're an actual trade chip for multiple seasons

With that in mind, and the rumors of Monte Ellis to SAC, a guy like Tyreke is the perfect flyer and I'd love to see him here.

I also think stashing a Euro overseas for a season both saves cap space and potentially works as a stronger trade chip simply because GMs will continue to attach the word "potential" to a player over there as opposed to, say, guys like Jeremy Lamb or Austin Rivers who have already proven themselves to have no value.

Re: Random Off-Season Ideas II (trades, free agency, draft,

With all the Demarcus Cousins rumors out there why not help facilitate him to another team? It would be awesome to do something like this.

3 team deal

Washington receives - Cousins (to pair with a backcourt of John Wall and Beal) one or two of (Salmons, Hayes, Outlaw) to rid Sacramento of bad contracts

Sacramento receives - Washington's #3 pick, Trevor Ariza (they don't have a SF), Cunningham (from Dallas)
They would have #3 and #7 to retool team which is pretty good if they do want to trade Cousins

Dallas receives - Emeka Okafor (to let Washington take some of Sacramento's bad contracts and to make room for Cousins to play)

Then we sign Calderon and Corey or Ronnie Brewer and resign Wright, and Morrow

with #13 take Schroeder or MCW and at #44 take Trevor Mbakwe

Calderon/Schroeder(#13)
Brewer/Carter/Morrow
Marion/Carter/Crowder
Dirk/Wright/Mbakwe(#44)
Okafor/Wright/Sarg

Complicated trade but would be good for all three teams

Might not even work salary wise just throwing stuff out there lol

Pretty good trade and Dallas comes up on top.

If Brewer costs too much, I'd go for Belli, SG by committee just because VC's going to get the bulk of his minutes at SG when Mayo departs. That's where I want Calathes.

Bring in Calathes to help in both guard spots. He's a PG by default but with his height, and RC's love for the 3-guard lineup, he may get minutes at SG. IMHO, he helps immediately and I won't be surprised if he'd be the backup SG or would be fighting for the backup PG spot at the same time.

For the 44th pick, I'd go for Kadji or Kelly.

Okafor is a good decent center for a year's rental, and would be a massive expiring to go with Dirk and Marion. Mavs could upgrade the C on 2014 by picking up Bogut and still have room for one more all-star caliber player.

Calderon/Schroeder/Calathes
Bellineli/Carter/Calathes
Marion/Crowder /Carter
Dirk/Wright/Kadji
Okafor/Wright/Sarge

RE: Random Off-Season Ideas II (trades, free agency, draft, etc.

Calderon + Okafor seems doable. I think Washington would appreciate the cap savings. I am not commenting on the 3 way thing, just in general we could get Okafor for nothing I think. I really wish we had a plan to not waste our #13 pick. That could be a good rotational player.

You better have a rim protector like Okafor back there. Calderon and Bellineli aren't slowing down anyone.

Bellineli is actually a better defender than most assume. He just had that Nellie tarnish on him.

My issue with that lineup is who's scoring.  Outside of Dirk, is there anyone in that lineup who you would expect to average more than 15 ppg?
