Jennings 20 pts 17 asts tonight
in a 109-108 Bucks win
He's a great fit w/ Dirk because he's VERY pick & roll oriented. Bucks are a heavily P&R oriented team.
Question is do you want to build around him post-Dirk?
I don't think we're gonna have a ton of options. Dwight, CP3- those types of guys aren't gonna be available. We need to hit 2 doubles instead of a HR. Look at Jennings, Millsap or Jefferson type of guys.

Re: Jennings 20 pts 17 rebs tonight
We would have to seriously overpay, and that might not even be enough, teams with extremely sought after RFA's almost never let their guys go

Just think... some people here were saying Collison was equal to/ or even better than Jennings lol. As apb stated the Mavs would have to overpay for him this summer and it probably wouldn't matter anyway.

RE: Jennings 20 pts 17 asts tonight
I briefly awhile ago thought Collison might be a better bargain, but I was 100% wrong and know that. Jennings still can get much better and reach new heights and improvements in shot selection and percentages, but DC isn't elevating anymore than he is now. He's peaked as a really solid reserve PG or average starter.

Collison should start packing... seriously.

Jennings has 10x the talent, confidence, and BBIQ as a PG (don't worry, he has all the time to improve his shot selection). Only problem is it will take A LOT to pry Jennings away from the Bucks

DC is as sure as gone.. IMO, the Mavs next starting PG will be either Jennings or Calderon.

Yeah and when Dirk has games of 6-7 shooting and in the same game Jennings is 3-23, don't cry.

Re: Jennings 20 pts 17 asts tonight
The question was never about Collison vs Jennings in terms of flash and sizzle. Jennings has Collison beat by a mile. The question is the price. Kamm believes Jennings will come around $8m. If that's the case, it's a no brainer.
The problem with him playing very well right now is that his price will go up too...probably a lot. If the price is extremely high the MBT better be sure that he's that superstar piece that they're blowing dry powder for. Is his sudden penchant to be a distributor first, just a phase or is it maturity kicking in? Will his poor shooting % magically improve next to Dirk? Isn't the reason to get that next stud to ease Dirk into a Robin role anyway? If he's going to cost a lot he better be that Batman.
For all of our adulation of Monta and Jennings, the Bucks are only 4 games ahead of the Mavs, in a weaker conference. Talent always looks better when you see it sparingly on an other team. Again, this is not asking to overrate any player on our team either. Just be careful and extremely sure before that big $ is spent.

Re: Jennings 20 pts 17 asts tonight
There was a local Milwaukee sports radio guy on when the Bucks were in town playing Dallas. He basically shredded Jennings. Said he thought the Bucks would let him go. He wasn't worth the money he would likely get offered this summer.
Now the Bucks are a team that does not like to pay a premium for players, so I can see them wanting to keep Jennings, but only at a certain price. What that is who knows.
Now this guy is just a local radio guy, so take it with a grain of salt. I don't know how plugged in he is.
So, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bucks let Jennings go depending on the price. The only question is what do the Mavs think? Do they think he is worth whatever that price is that the Bucks see as too much?

Re: Jennings 20 pts 17 asts tonight
I think Jennings is better than Collison and has more potential to get even better. And I think a really good coach like Carlisle can help him reach an elite level.
But of course he will cost more.
And you have to make sure that the reputation, or rumors, of him being a selfish, non-team player are not true before you think about bringing him here.
The potential has me interested. He has the potential to be the PG of this team for the next 10 years. But I think there are some risks.
You don't want to break the bank for him though, because he is not going to carry a team. You still need that "next" star to replace Dirk. But you will need a high level PG and Jennings could be that guy.

Re: Jennings 20 pts 17 asts tonight
Probably going to have to max him out, or come close to it. Unless he tells the Bucks that he will not play for them under in any circumstances. He's definitely a part of the Mavs' plan B (no Dwight or CP3). The plan probably also involves getting another really good player in 2014 when Dirk signs a more cap-friendly contract. Guess we' ll have to just see what happens. It's a big summer. I'd say they HAVE to land one player this summer, at the least, in order to keep this plan alive.

Actually he would fit into plan Howard. Max for Jennings would not prohibit signing Howard. Is it the right move? Heck, I don't know. The MBT is "intrigued", but just how intrigued?
