Pronk with a sore shin.

Shelley with 2 bombs against Verlander in a game last year. Marson protecting him this timerolleyes If we have a rally and Shelley is up in a clutch situation it better be Uncle Charlie time if you are rooting for the Kitties. One of Duncan's blasts was on a high 96 mph heater.

Tribe hits at least 2 bombs today in the victory.

Well, he wasn't exactly missing bats, but Masterson gets out of the first with no damage.

Just as quickly as Masterson got the first two outs, he was hammered by the next three guys...fortunately one of them was run down by Brantley and we have a scoreless first.

In a pregame interview, Andy Dirks credited Toby Harrah for being the most influential instructor in his growth as a hitter, particularly for helping him develop the proper focus to handle things like 2-strike RBI situations...

WOW...that was a LONG homer by Choo.

HRs hit that far should count as two.

In the NBA it's three....

Of course, had baseball developed in its pre-fence days where hitters could keep running around the bases until the ball was retrieved, then yeah, Choo probably could have circled the bases at least two times before that one was fired in...

If I were in Cleveland, I'd be at this game.  We won't see 80 degrees all weekend here in Seattle.  Hell, we won't see 70 degrees.

Plus, gas prices at wholesale jumped 35 cents yesterday, so they're forecasting pump prices up 35-40 cents this weekend (I filled both cars at $4.07 and $4.12 this morning).

Jeez...what kind of international event did I miss that caused THAT?!?  Memorial Day Weekend?

Based on the at-bats in this game so far, the Tribe is darned fortunate to be tied going to the bottom of the third.  A guy named Quintin just shouldn't be getting doubles off of our top guy....

Hey, A.C., I'm starving and it made me think of something I've always wanted to ask you: are beignets as we know them here a uniquely New Orleans creation? I ask because I've rarely found beignets at French restaurants, and when I do, they're not nearly as good as what you'll find at places featuring Creole or Cajun cuisine. Did bignets originate in New Orleans or can they be found in the same form in France. Just wondering because, like I say, I'm hungry and could use a sackful of these things. They make Krispy Kremes positively ordinary by comparison.

Beignets are French; it is how you'd translate the word "donut".  They aren't as common as in the U.S. because during the 19th Century layered pastries (butter between each thin rolled layer) known as "mille feuille" or thousand-leaf became more popular for the finer taste and in part because baking is easier than the frying used for beignets.

In any case, the New Orleans beignets are a special creation of the Louisiana French-Cajun culture.

Oh, and the gas prices?  The excuse is an explosion in February that destroyed a refinery N of us at the BP refinery in Cherry Point.

Rats...Kip hits into the double play...anything but that...

Say, could someone please tell me what happened to get Brookens and Leyland tossed? I disgustedly walked away to tend to the stove after the leadoff walk to Quintin and next thing I know Dirks is waving his hands and the other guys are tossed. I can't figure out what gives...there didn't seem to be any sort of play...
