Re: game 137 - starting to hit the "gotta win"

Anyone have Aguilkar's splits against Lobstein?  SEriously, you would think that against a AAA pitcher who has a 4+ ERA that it might be a good idea to start as many players as possible who have actually faced him.  You know like Aguilar could start at DH?  Walters at 2nd or 3rd?  Considering the history of bad performance the team has had against facing pitchers for the first time, maybe, it would be a good idea to you know use players who have hit against this pitcher before and probably succeeded since, you know he wasn't exactly lights-out at AAA

So if we fail to score 5 runs against this guy, do you think anyone will have the guts to ask Francona why he didn't use two players that have played against him?  Both of whom who hit RH?ohlord

Oh just so everyone has the same information, Aguilar went 2/3 with a homer, 5 RBIs and a walk the first game that Lobstein started including a homer, 1/4 with 2 RBIs and 1K the second time Lobstein started.  I guess the AAA management must have felt Aguilar was not worth facing him a third time since he wasn't playing in the third start, that must have been what Francona felt was the compelling stat to decide to sit Aguilar.

CC looks a lot better than Kluber in the top of the first.
Bourn has a 7 pitch AB but swings at ball 4 to GO to 1st. bangheadbangheadbanghead
JRam goes 5 before grounding out.
Brantley hits his 6th pitch for a single.
Santana finally gets my snail mail, goes the other way on a high fastball and homers to RF.  Funny, he swung through a fastball the pitch before a little lower in the zone, and yet the one higher up gets pummeled.

A two out base knock for Brantley...

An 0-2 blast to the opposite field by Santana puts us up two early.

Best part is that Carlos went opposite field with two strikes.

Wish he would do that left handed, too.

Gomes had better make some adjustments. The Tigres are jumping all over his first pitch fastball strikes. need to get them chasing off-speed junk/ changeups...thrown for the first pitches...

Three freaking singles in a row on 4 freaking pitches.  We are about to piss away a 2-0 lead right away. bangheadbangheadbanghead
And Indians killer Avila up.  Not good...not good at all.
@#$@#^%#@!#$@!#$%!#%!#%!#$ Gameday just had CC squeezed on the ball 4 to Avila.  What BS!

The Tigers aren't dummies. They are not gonna let Carrasco throw first pitch strikes with impunity.

Three straight hits in four pitches.

Bases jacked and  a full count....walked in a run...no outs yet.

He hasn't thrown a breaking pitch yet today, all changes and fastballs.

I tend to trust gameday more than gamecast.  Any particular reason you like Gamecast better?

@#$@^%@ now he can't put away Suarez.  He keeps getting his pitches fouled off.  THis is where CC runs into trouble and starts nibbling or overthrowing something that is grooved.

There ya go, CC. Throws a ball just off the plate for strike one and strike two...stays there for several fouls, then a slider in the dirt for a whiff.

He did in the first.  And just using fastballs.
Now Davis up, ugh, he is going to be tough to double up.
