Game 96: 1 of 2, Klub versus Rook

Game 96: 1 of 2, Klub versus Rook

We all know what happens when we face a rookie we have never seen.  We do get two on with two outs after a bunt single and walk.  But for some reason Brantley tries to steal third and is unsuccessful.  Horrible time for him to get caught for the first time.
Kluber looking good, and Raburn did not make his sacrifices to the BABIP gods lining out after Murphy got on to leadoff the 3rd.

Then Murphy is CS 2B with ACab up.  Makes no freaking sense.  ACab up in the count and even if he gets out, Brantley leads off the next inning, always a good thing.

Finally getting to the rookie.

Oops as I'm typing that Raburn hits into a DP.   Francona comes out to argue that Suarez wasn't in the neighborhood.

3-1 count, the rookie gooves a 90 MPH fastball and Kipnis gets another big 2-out hit.  3-0 Indians

Cabrera lines out to the wall.  Nice swing.

Kluber time.

Kluber finally gets a lead and inexplicably he comes out and walks Suarez, the leadoff hitter, on 5 pitches.

Then a single follows

1st & 2nd, no outs.

Wow, crazy play. And a good play by Kipnis.  Davis hits a ball up the middle.  Kluber deflects its.  Kipnis changes directions, fields the ball, tags the runner going to 2nd, nd throws to first barely getting the speedy Davis.

Austin Jackson makes it 3-1 with a RBI infield single.

Top of 7
Gomes singles
Murphy walks
Raburn K's on 3 pitches.

Ausmus brings in Phil Coke

Kipnis with another big RBI single.  Murphy to 3rd, Kipnis to 2nd on the throw home.

Infield in

Cabrera grounds one to Kinsler, Kipnis weirdly gets caught in a rundown between 2nd and 3rd.  Murphy doesn't score.

Brantley grounds out sharply to Kinsler.

4-1 Indians  (could definitely be a bigger lead).

Kluber goes 1, 2, 3 in the 7th.  Pitching a gem.

Chisenhall gets a 1 out infield single (now 2 hits and a BB today), and his OBP gets back above .400 at .401 for the moment.

Chisenhall then gets thrown out trying to steal ohlord

Kluber 1,2 3 in the 8th.  Pitching a gem still.

Gomes doubles off the base of the wall in CF.  HR anywhere else.  Goes to 3rd on a wild pitch.

Murphy singles him home.   Murphy 2-2 with 2 BB and 2 RBI's today.  Gomes 3-4 with 3 runs scored.

5-1 Indians.

Raburn flies out to left

Murphy goes to 2nd on a passed ball.

Kipnis K's

I'm sure Kluber would like to thank Brad Ausmus for filling out a lineup card with 8 right handed batters eekeekeek
