Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

6 up 6 down between him and Sanchez.  Only AB that seemed at all promising for the Indians was of course Brantley who grounded out to SS, so knowing him, he probably hit a bullet.
Sanchez always seems to have the Indians number.

9 up 9 down.  2 Ks.  Swisher is ridiculous.  I can understand Chisenhall taking a high sinker on the inside corner, easy to give up on, but Swisher Ks swinging on a slider, after just swinging and missing on a slider THE PREVIOUS PITCH!bangheadbangheadbanghead

Sanchez given a generous call on a 2-0 pitch, possibly cost the Indians a baserunner as Murphy ends the AB a few pitches later on a fly out.

Re: Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

GOmes breaks the string with a soft single to center on a slider down and away.  Good job of hitting by Gomes.  I think if they really want to break Chisenhall from Murphy, I think it is time to push Gomes up to #6, Swisher really has no business hitting 6.

Re: Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

No surprise, Gomes stranded at first.
Freaking Castellanos leads off the 3rd for the Tigers with a freaking double described as a "soft line drive", probably just reached out and poked the freaking ball.  bangheadbanghead
Yeah...game ends here I think.

Bases loaded for Kinsler.  Yeah not going to end well and I have an irrational hate for the guy.

Sac fly, followed by a fly out by Cabrera.  Could have been worst.  Could have been better too but couldn't get the curve to Kinsler down enough to get a GIDP, only a routine fly out.

2 on one out for the Indians.  Brantley and Santana, I will let you guess who got the very lucky dribbler down the third base line that barely stayed fair.  And trust me it was not intentional.ohlord
Seriously, how much better would Santana's BA and everything be if he just took advantage of that HUGE hole on purpose.

Re: Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

Sigh...no hole for Chisenhall, goes with the pitch and unfortunately GIDPs.  ANyone can comment on whether or not he has a deposit in the bank of BABIP or was it just routinely hit?
Kipnis freaking sucks...seriously, you have a shift on and still can't stop the LD hit to you?  Sigh leadoff runner on.

Re: Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

Hunter takes a slider on the outside corner the opposite field for a double.  Thank goodness Tigers are stupid and try to score JD Martinez and he is thrown out.  Still, a 2-0 lead (still in the inning) is probably too much.
Hey Santana, see that ball driven past you for a double, yeah, baseball allows you to hit the ball the other way, especially when you are pitched away.

It was weakly hit right to the shortstop playing right by second base.

Tigers make it 3-0 with three consecutive two strike hits and a Gomes throwing error

Re: Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

THanks for the information.
Swisher Ks on three straight, staring at the third one...amazing leadership.  Can we please just put him #9 so I can stop complaining about where he is in the lineup?
Oh I hope the throwing error is not a return of the yips by Gomes.

Saw the throw, not the best throw, but it wasn't an airmail job, just shorthopped Chisenhall and counting on Chisenhall  to scoop it is expecting to much.  Needed to throw it that low to get Hunter.  A little higher and they would have had him.

Just saw Murphy get robbed on his liner into LC.  Geezus...all the signs of getting shut out today.  What a way to start the second half.bangheadbanghead

Re: Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

Bauer works around a Cabrera single and steal.  Gets out of it without any more runs.  Nice quality start, he actually pitched OK, no real "mistake" pitches, the double by Hunter was on the outside, maybe a little high, good hitting by Hunter.
Best thing about ACab swinging (and inevitably getting out) on the first pitch last inning, Brantley leads off this inning.  Then steals second, and then Santana walks.  Chisenhall up now, Sanchez gets a gift call on a backdoor breaking pitch...we really need a big hit.
The sad thing is we have Swisher up next...again...why is he batting 6th?!bangheadbanghead

Re: Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

Bases loaded, no outs after Chisenhall singles on a line-drive to RF.
Swisher is up, he will:
a) K looking
b) K swinging
c) act like a bro
d) pop-up

Oops...d) was supposed to be hit a single up the to score two and send Chisenhall to third!
Way to make sure a) and b) never happen by putting a nice swing on the first pitch!!

Re: Game 95: Can Bauer Bookend the Break

Kipnis up now...come on Kipnis just make contact!  HIt a routine GO to the 2Bman we will at least tie the game!!!!
Wow...Swisher's single has been so shocking I am like totally out of it.  Sorry...Murphy was up (someone I trust to put the bat on the ball) but they bring in Krol, which causes Francona to bring in Raburn...which I think is a mistake because seriously, who is more likely to K, Murphy (even against a LHP) or Raburn?!bangheadbangheadbanghead
