I am sad that Holt didn't even get a chance to play or PR.  Will this be a make-or-break outing for Masterson?  IBI says he has an option left, if he struggles today I  the team has to think that McAllister or Salazar can do better.

kipnis pops out to SS on 93 mph fastball.

cabrera HBP on 3rd pitch. greene up to 95. cabrera thrown out stealing on a 2-2 count.

brantley GO to 1b. greene throws just 12 pitches, between 82 and 95 mph.

Re: game 88 - back to .500?

mccann with a leadoff double to RF to start 2nd.

roberts doubles to LF. 1-0 yankees.

suzuki singles. roberts stops at 3b on throw home, suzuki thrown out trying to go to 2b, in a rundown.

johnson walks. this game is going to be over soon if masterson keeps pitching like this.

cervelli HBP with 2 strikes. get carrasco warmed up quickly, and let him pitch 4-5 innings. and DL masterson. 9 batters, 4 hits, a walk and an HBP. pretty bad when you see an injury delay advisory on gameday and kind of hope it's your pitcher!

gardner singles to LF. 2-0, bases still loaded, 1 out. masterson going on 40 pitches.

jeter walks on 4 pitches, none of them particularly close. 3-0. hey terry, you awake in the dugout?

ellsbury with a poor AB and helps us out by grounding into a double play the hard way, 1B to C.

Nowa RBI double to Roberts.  Yeah Masterson is getting hit around by these over the hill vets.

Masterson is done.  Send him to AAA this is ridiculous you freaking bench Carlos and he hasn't been this bad.

Crockett is already up and warming in the pen.  Unless Terry starts warming someone in the pen before the 1st pitch (which might not be a bad idea with Masterson lately), don't see how he could have anyone up faster.

Re: game 88 - back to .500?

I officially admit it to all. I WAS WRONG on Masterson. Let Carrasco start or bring up Salazar- McCallister. Wow!!  Great play by our two catchers, but why do the talented players [Gordon- Manziel] have character flaws and or addictions and great human beings like JM struggle and disappoint?

I really thought this year he would stabilize his career and show consistency.

Hopefully we can hit this stiff and get back in this.

Holt played right in the ninth yesterday and made the last putout of the game.

Re: game 88 - back to .500?

i know (on warming up). just frustrated by masterson. he really, really needs to make a trip to the DL. mcallister can slot in. 5 hits, 2 walks and an HB in first 10 hitters. without bad baserunning by suzuki and a bad AB by ellsbury, it could be 5-0 or 6-0 already.

Re: game 88 - back to .500?

tex walks on 5 pitches. get him the hell out of there!! this is as bad as ubaldo, 2012.

mccann starts 3-0, singles on 3-2. 1st and 2nd, no outs, and NOW someone visits the mound. crockett in.

roberts lines out to RF, tex tags and moves to 3b.

suzuki with an infield single to 1b, 4-0, runners at 1st and 2nd.

balk moves both runners up. johnson HBP, which loads them. wow, this is just pathetic. amazing it isn't 9-0 by now. yankees with 7 hits, 3 walks, 2 hit batters and a balk.

cervelli grounds to cabrera, and we get a force at 2b. now 5-0, 2 out, 1st and 3rd.

gardner fans. 5-0, middle of the 3rd.

time for me to do something else.

UnderMan made a big deal about why Santana didn't go home on the ball he barehanded.  It was obvious.  Crockett was coming across to cover first and crossed in front of Santana.

Re: game 88 - back to .500?

Exactly why I can't figure out why it took two batters for them to decide to pull Masterson in the third. Considering the pen was well-rested and for the most part have been quite good across the board. Sigh I just feel like this was another game where the late trigger cost the team again.

Re: game 88 - back to .500?

The easier play for Santana was to 2B, a much slower runner going to that base and not needing to count on Crockett to beat Suzuki. Probably something he will see on the replay and do it by instinct next time. Can't put too much on his since he saved the previous inning on the GIDP.
