Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

Bourn grounds out, ACab doubles, Brantley walks, Kipnis up, ahead 2-1.  I can't do PBP today, have too much work.
Kipnis lines a shot to right, but right at Rios, so only moves Acab to third, and unfortunately 2 outs now.
Bad news, the Tigers up 2-1, after BoSox had a 1-0 lead for 2 full innings.
Chisenhall failed to make a deposit to the BABIP gods, grounds out to 2B to end the threat.  First pitch and on the outside corner, disappointing, Chisenhall has been making a living on sending those pitches the other way, I hope he isn't getting pull happy!  Whelp, that is probably all for the offense today against Darvish.

Re: Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

Bauer definitely all over the place with his pitches.  Not a good sign.
Broken bat single to Rios, then Giminez pulls a double down the line.  Only 1 out.ohlord
Sacrifice fly, then a 2-out RBI single.  2-0...and now a 2-run homer by the #9 hitter.  4-0.  Bauer struggling big time.
Well time to say hello to being 4 games back, and the road woes continue.

Re: Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

Chisenhall says who needs the BABIP Gods and takes one out of play off the pole down the RF line.  Gets the Indians back to within one, and then Murphy works a walk and Gomes hits a bloop single, putting runners at 1st and 3rd for...Santana who does what he does, pull an high and outside fastball for a weak grounder to 1B. bangheadbangheadbangheadbanghead
Geezus you lay one the other way you get a nice line drive there...UGH!

ACab is en fuego.  Definitely making him a candidate to not be traded and be tendered a QO while giving Lindor one more year.

Re: Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

Just saw the replay on the RBI single by Choice to score Giminez and man, I don't think I have ever seen Brantley throw a ball that high, he is usually very low with his throws, it was a shocker, it was on line, but so high that Gomes had to jump for the ball and by the time he landed to try to apply the tag, it was too late.  Dang!

Might be a matter of design or something, but Bauer is definitely pounding the inside part of the KZone to both RHH and LHH.  It is kind of nuts, I have not seen anything like this before.

Re: Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

Little League defense strikes on an attempted LIDP attempt on Choo at 1B allowing CHoo to get to 3B, but I guess the run to 3B did not help out his ankle as on the very next pitch, Bauer airmails it above Gomes, but throws it so hard that it caroms right back to Gomes who throws to Bauer to tag out Choo trying to come home.noidea

Seriously. It isn't even like he was in A ball and then five years later here it is.

Re: Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

Gomes leads off with a cueshot single into RF, Santana up, and i was going to say if the shift was on, he should BUNT, but I guess the shift was not on because he gets a liner into RF for a single, 1st and 2nd no outs.  Aviles bunt time...Aviles fail time...geezus...even Aviles can't bunt in play, foul first off, takes a second for strike 2, takes ball 1 while trying to mess with the Rangers faking a bunt, takes ball 2 with a check swing, and then takes a strike 3 on the inside corner. ohlord
Bourn looking like crap today.  Takes a third strike on a fastball.  This is ridiculous. bangheadbangheadbanghead
Yeah...typical Indians, get first two runners on, and nada.
Even ACab can't do anything, swinging at the first freaking pitch and grounds out weakly to Darvish as he tries to do too much with a pitch.bangheadbangheadbanghead

Bauer at 92 pitches after 6IP, I think his night is done.

Chisenhall gets a two-out walk, gets to second on a wild pitch, but Murphy hits a hard hit chopper that Moreland surprises himself by snagging for the last out. bangheadbanghead

Boy...you just can't let good SP off the hook like we have tonight and quite often all season. Should be looking at a 6-4 lead here easily.

Re: Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

If Francona freaking brings out Atchison now with two lefties coming up right after Choice is a great way to screw things up.
And of course Scrabble gives up an opposite field homer to Choice on the first pitch.
IMO, if you are going to let Bauer start the inning, and he got Giminez with minimal effort, you might as well let him go after Martin (weak hitting lefty) and Choice (RHH) and then let Scrabble go after Odor and Choo.
Now this is bad, Rangers bullpen is not deep, but they have two very good pitchers, including the closer, and now you let them come into play. ohlord
I would rather have lost the game 1-0 and be dominated by Darvish then lose it 5-4 and leave a village on the bases...it is so much more frustrating.bangheadbanghead

Well, if that wasn't the very definition of a LOOGY, I don't know what was.  Terry gambled and lost.

Re: Game 61: A Wheeling and Dealing Darvish

Well the Rangers know how to be efficient with their offense, only 1 LOB, Indians...not so much, 8 LOB. bangheadbangheadbanghead
Gomes has a hanging changeup hang inside but he is too far ahead of it and hits it out but foul.  And then of course swings through a fastball in the exact same location. bangheadbanghead\
Santana up now...and then Aviles...yeah...I am looking at the ninth already.
