Detroit regains the lead as Fielder looks to be heating up again.  Not sure if the Royals have another come back in them.

OMG, Brantley leads off with a double but ACab can't even get him to third, instead of hitting it on the ground to second, he freaking hits a pop up to second.  Geezus.banghead

I agree, if I recall that is one thing he does pretty well.  Unfortunately he didn't indicated he was a threat to bunt last night which would have drawn Donaldson closer and might have gotten his liner into LF for a game-tying single.tongue
And that GO by Giambi would have scored Brantley.  Sigh.  Seems like Francona can't seem to push the right buttons, he tries to bunt, the subsequent hitter fails, he doesn't bunt, the next hitter would have had a productive out.tongue

I was wrong, Royals do come back to tie i but should have taken the lead.  Second and third no outs, Escobar pops up, IBB to Hosmer, then Tigers' mystique holds up as Butler and Gordon drill pitches that end up being outs.banghead

When is enough Lonnie enough?... I'd rather see Aviles play 3rd at this point... that dude really needs to start hitting at some point or he will drift away into LaPorta land

It is frustrating but every game he has shown one or two swings that resulted in warning track power, makes you just want to wait to see when he makes that slight adjustment.tongue
Or he is just perfectly suited for the Yankees and their short porches.

Stubbs is a streaky hitter like Reynolds, but unlike Reynolds, he has had more than one streak this season.tongue

Re: Game 123 Huge Bounce Back Game

Royals had a leadoff walk, after a sac bunt, no Royal could get a hit, Getz ends the inning trying to get a bunt single to drive in Perez from third with two outs, but hit it too hard.

Royals pitching have to hold the fort one more inning at least.

Stubbs thrown out on the basepaths twice in the game, he definitely does not like the track on the infield dirt.  Bourn can't catch a break, line drive to RF turns into a DP.

At least Bourn hit his pitch over 100 feet unlike ACab, and he hit it on a line.tongue

And the Tigers 180 million dollar payroll rears its head with Cabrera hitting a leadoff walk-off homer on a 3-1 pitch.tongue

I think teams may start taking that approach similar to how teams treated Bonds.  Of course if Fielder really does heat up, it will be tough to sustain.  What he did in that AB against a pitcher like Rivera was ridiculous, the homer was on a pitch way off the plate inside.ohlord  you can't even pitch "around" him.

Re: Game 123 Huge Bounce Back Game

I would have been doing it all year... Prince is having somewhat of a down year... hell I think Miggy is hitting almost .100 pts higher than Prince with double the HR's and makes better contact obviously... I'll take my chances with Prince everyday of the week

Re: Game 123 Huge Bounce Back Game

Ubaldo has a no-hitter, but I think it is time for the bullpen to earn its keep.
I don't trust Ubaldo to be able to have another inning like the last one, and if Francona goes with his MO and pull him at the first sign of trouble, I think it will be too late.
