Game 74: Going for the Minny Sweep

Game 74: Going for the Minny Sweep

Minor miracle that both Carrasco and Pedro Hernandez have navigated four innings with the score only 2-1.  Both have struggled with command (an understatement) but each had relatively quiet fourth innings.  Pitch count probably dooms each hurler to one more inning though...

Kevin Costner is attending the game; was he doing an interview on the radio or TV side for the Indians?  Bert Blyleven asked for Costner's autograph but didn't ask him to drop by the Twins' booth.

By the way, on yesterday's FOX broadcast, Blyleven was asked who he thought was the 2nd best team in the AL Central and he said Kansas City.  And he didn't hedge it any; he just said their pitching was so much better than Cleveland's.

I think at least one of those two run-scoring singles that got by Reynolds today would have been fielded by an average major league third baseman. A guy like Jack Hanahan probably would have had both. Just sayin'.

This umps strike-zone is ridiculously small today.

It never fails: you start to feel sorry for the other team's AAAA pitcher whose career is on the brink after the walks the bases loaded with no one out and goes to a 3-1 count on Gomes...and three innings later the guy is still in there and throwing bullets by our guys and has the lead. I don't know if I'm more disgusted by the Tribe for letting this guy get off the hook, or myself for some stupid, misplaced sentimentality.

Tribe needs to win this game... should have 5 runs today... on a side note we head to Balt tomorrow and they are coming off of a beatdown in Toronto ... Toronto once they get back Reyes and Lawrie are gonna have a real dangerous lineup

Tribe has been on a nie streak lately but it seems the losses they have had were games they beat themselves or should have won...Det is helping hough... hell Tribe should be tied with them by now

Three straight singles to start the 7th. What a bunch of fetid turds.

If nothing else that inning guarantees Kip to bat in the ninth.

I would have loved to see Stubbs take a shot at dropping down a bunt on that 2-1 count with Brantley on third and the third baseman playing way behind the bag.  Anything in that direction would have tied the game, and it wouldn't have had to be a squeeze play.

Oh well, you're right, we cleared Stubbs, which was very important; we get one on and Swisher bats, two we get Santana.

I really like this Arcia kid; he's only 22 and looks like he's going to be a dynamite hitter.

I'd hate to think what people would say around here had that happened to Santana.

Just a bad break.

Astute observation my friend. That would have been smart baseball. Now we need more than one.bangheadbangheadbangheadbangheadbanghead

Re: Game 75: Going for the Minny Sweep

Doumit never touches home plate on the throw home and is half way back to the dugout and has to go back to score the Twins 5th run.

Where was Gomes' head on that play?  If he had been aware the runner never touched home plate, the Twins don't score and the Indians get the 3rd out
