Joey Belle for Manager?
One more candidate: Former Tribe slugger Albert Belle said he threw his hat into the ring with an email to President Mark Shapiro asking for an managerial interview.
"I'm just like Robin Ventura and Mike Matheny were last year," said Belle with a laugh, referring to the White Sox and Cardinals bosses. "I'm sitting on my couch waiting for my phone to ring."
Belle is currently rehabbing his left hip after having "resurfacing" surgery on it about 10 weeks ago.

If he gets the gig, Hannah Storm gets the exclusive first interview.

Re: Joey Belle for Manager?
Albert Belle will never sniff a coaching job in the majors let alone a managerial job. What GM would be insane enough to have such a volatile, always angry person managing their players?
Especially Cleveland who he had nothing good to say about the team, owner or fans?

Re: Joey Belle for Manager?
This thread has left me with a stupid grin on my face.... I don't think Belle is qualified to be a manager at this point, but hitting coach maybe? Yes please.... I would LOVE it to have him come in and be a hitting coach. Add Vizquel, Baerga, and Lofton to the coaching staff and we have the coolest coaching staff in baseball.

RE: Joey Belle for Manager?
OK real positives for Belle
Team wont give up cause they are afraid he will beat the hell out of em
You get calls from umpires cause they are afraid he will beat the hell out of em
No negative stories from reporters cause they are afraid...well you get the picture

No negative stories from reporters cause they are afraid...well you get the picture Yeah, I don't think anybody would be that afraid of Belle. Why would any umpire fear him? If he hurts one of them, he's out of baseball for good. Touch one player and he's fired immediately. You won't get respect from players by trying to bully them.

Re: Joey Belle for Manager?
Hire Belle to be a clubhouse enforcer.
That is all.

I think more then anything he just want's back into baseball, I like the Idea of having him come in as hitting coach, he alway's had a great swing. I wish he would of stayed in Cleveland instead of going to Chi town, his good years were with the tribe...

RE: Joey Belle for Manager?
It seriously reminds me of how Babe Ruth wanted to be a manager. The Yankees owner reportedly said Ruth is an animal, he cant control himself how could he control anyone else.

RE: Joey Belle for Manager?
Dudes,
How long would it take Joey Albert Belle to literally kick the living crap out'a Chris Perez? Rage wants a manager with some emotion....wait till he get's a load of Joey.
Joey Albert as Manager would be a Bill Veeck level outside the box tactic. We might still suck but it would be fun to watch.

Belle was never much of a communicator. There's also a huge difference between a manager who runs a tight ship vs a manager who simply tries to intimidate and bully the players. That trick never works.
