Cleveland eyeing Kendrys Morales !!

Cleveland eyeing Kendrys Morales !!

Always kinda' liked him, and would be the perfect DH. 22 bombs last season, and would complete the infusion of power this winter..........Mark Reynolds.....Drew Stubbs.....and Morales.  Article goes on to say that it could be a fallback plan if Swisher goes elewhere, but not necessarily ( could conceivably sign both).  Gotta' love all of this activity, since Francona came aboard!!  I'm not saying he's making the final decisions, but anyone that thinks he isn't the catalyst behind this new attitude in the orginization, is nuts http://www.waitingfornextyear....endrys-morales/

Then color me nuts. I think the catalysts are
- Sizemore, Hafner, pfkaCarmona off the books=money to spend
- Complete lack of faith from the fan-base. Maybe trying to gain some back
- And of course, we've sucked for the past decade
I don't think Francona has anything to do with it.

This hasn't been mentioned enough. Well said, it's not like we're going out and blowing up the payroll to 100m.

If there's a player that can spark this sputtering offense; that player is Morales. He would bring that missing RF that we need desperately. I would put him in the cleanup spot because he has alway been a threat. If there's a gift for us desperate Indian Fan this Christmas, Morales is it.

In his entire major league career, Morales has played a grand total of 18 games in the outfield.  None since 2008.  Not saying he would not be a good pickup, but he is most definitely not a RF.

agreed....he would be a DH/1b....I don't believe he will be an Indian but it would be a nice addition

Re: Cleveland eyeing Kendrys Morales !!

I think Morales is ok for the right price.

I wonder if a 3 team deal involving Perez, Porcello, and Morales would make sense? The Angels and Tribe have reported interest in the latter two, and Detroit seemingly could use a closer. Probably would need to include a few additional players to make the values work, but an idea I thought had some merit.

Watching Perez pitch for a division rival would sure endear him to Tribe fans even more, ha.

Re: Cleveland eyeing Kendrys Morales !!

Why in the world would we be interested in giving up anything but salary relief for a 1 year guy when we are not even in a contending situation??? IMHO we should be looking for long term solutions only someone locked up for 3 years and more or team control time.

You can sign a end of the road guy like Thome on the cheap for a fraction of what Morales is going to make this season to DH now I'm not saying Thome is the answer but trading for a free agent to be and giving anything up when we are not close to contending I just cannot believe everyone is getting sucked into these BS rumors.

Morales is an injury waiting to happen and a FA shortly.  if they ask for anything above a spare part, move on.

Re: Cleveland eyeing Kendrys Morales !!

The Indians would only acquire Morales to fill a need next year, no different than Reynolds. Thus, the price tag would have to be cheap.

I'm not for giving a Boras guy any everyday playing time just to help him drive his numbers up so he can sign elsewhere JMHO<

I wonder how much money Boras takes off the top compared to other agents.

I mean if he was a sure bet to make more money wouldn't every major league star have Boras as his agent?

Re: Cleveland eyeing Kendrys Morales !!

That is kind of silly.

I WANT other teams to pay more for players. I also WANT guys on our team to play well enough to earn bloated contracts.

Yeah I don't get the logic either. It seems awfully stubborn to close doors that could be mutually beneficial.

Boras has used cleveland a few times to drive up money for player's; I wouldn't want to deal with him either if I was Clevelands front office...

They do not have to deal with him if they do not try to sign Morales.

Re: Cleveland eyeing Kendrys Morales !!

I'm sure the Angels are going to give him away.  There are reports that they have an interest in either Smith or Perez.

I don't understand your logic.  Why would the Indians trade anything of value for a player they have no intention of signing.

The better stradegy is to move on and go after a talent that is more friendly to management.

Perhaps a Cabrera to Pittsburgh for a Marte plus deal might be considered

RE: Cleveland eyeing Kendrys Morales !!

I'd trade Smith for him yesterday. That is an easy trade. Plus Smith is arby eligible. It's an easy trade if thats all they want for him.
