Tribe shows interest in Harang & Capuano (Dodgers)

would either of these 2, be worth a looksie ?? I remember Harang being fairly decent w/ the Reds & Padres, but seems a little long in the tooth right now. As far as Capuano, I'll be honest = don't know much about him. Both seem like back-of-the-end rotation guys at best. Still some good arms out there, that I'd rather go after.....Loshe...Colby Lewis....Francisco Liriano, etc.etc.  http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/...ians/index.html

RE: Tribe shows interest in Harang & Capuano (Dodgers)

I would not mind Capuano depending the price but I liked the last part of that article

"A source says that the Indians' four-player return for Shin-Soo Choo and Jason Donald won't deter them from moving right-hander Justin Masterson, shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, or closer Chris Perez in the right deal, Rival teams say the Tribe insisted upon major leaguers/major league ready pieces for Choo and they would presumably seek the same in return for their other veterans"..

I think with the way the FA is playing out that the above is the best way to go..If we could get a Bauer out of Choo then I think we could do well with guys like Cabrera,Masterson and Perez(maybe at the trading dead line).

Capuano could be the lefty in the rotation the only problem is what is the trade value for a 500 lefty pitcher with 1 year left on his contract the option year was a mutual deal with a 1 mil buyout so with the state of free agency this year i could not see him passing the chance at exercising his opt out.

So what would we have to give up for 1 year vet lefty at 6 mil any guesses ?

I think we have Aaron Harang already.....a younger version with a better fastball....McAllister.

I like Capuano though. Wouldn't give up a ton for him, but he'd look nice in our rotation.

Capuano would be a solid pickup. Harang is nothing more than a depth option.

Capuano...would be OK...and by OK I mean a .500 P with a 4.5 era or so....Harang would get hammered

Why? His last 2 seasons he's posted an ERA below 4. In 2010 he had a horrible season but it was in the Cincinnati band box. Outside of that season he's been a fairly consistent performer.

Now I'm not going to sign him to a long term deal, but I'd take him on a 1-year deal.

We need a Lefty Starter and do we want to see them clog this team up with a bunch of old guys.

I would rather go with what we have after seeing a lot of Harang over the last 3 -4 years and a couple of times in person in Cincy with not facing a pitcher 3 times a start in the American League his ERA will blow up IMO.

His combination of pretty low K/9 and high BB/9 is pretty scary. Both have also been trending in the wrong direction too.
