Schumaker traded & Wigginton signed & Furcal a ?. Doesn't it look like the Cardinals are prepping for santa clause (Cabrera) coming to town or am I reaching too hard? Bill

Bill I don't see the tribe trading Cabrera, unless they get exactly what they want for him and the price right now is really up there... Cleveland should use the money that they have and give Cabrera a 5 year extension.... If cleveland trades anybody else this offseason, they should trade Perez for some outfield help!!! Our bullpen is loaded with RH pitching... This is my Idea, Keep Cabrera for the long term! when Lindor or Paulino are ready, move Cabrera to third, and move Lonnie to firstbase!!! The one thing Cleveland fans should really be happy about is that our infield is set for the future and beyond... Now we need some outfield help!!!

Re: Cabrera & Cardinals
I think ACab would slot nicely in at 2B for the Cardinals--they aren't entering the season with Descalso as their starter. There also is lingering worries over Furcal's elbow.

Re: Cabrera & Cardinals
In 2010 I would have said yes to a 5 even a 6 year extension of Astro but not now we must be watching 2 different players. I do not know if you are going by his 2010 masterpiece where he pretty much was the same player through the whole season. I look at a guy who has lost site of the ability to keep his physical self in check year round over the last two seasons and may be headed on a free fall if he is unable to change things. Asdrubal is Fat and out of shape and has totally collapsed after the All Star Break the last 2 seasons if we would extend him 5 more years now I'm afraid we would end up with another Hafner or Grady situation. Trade him now. JMHO casper18837 wrote:

I seriously believe they want to trade both. Not that they wouldn't like to keep ACab, simply that he's going to get too expensive and they have a system that is deep at that position. But, of course they're not going to give him away. They're in a position they don't have to.

Re: Cabrera & Cardinals
Crasnick is the only one to have this type of take. Others as of late on MlB TV shows Rosenthal / Gammons and other are all still saying the Indians are still exploring other deals and saying they feel CP / Asdrubal are both on the block and Masterson for the right return could possibly be had. Just a few days ago Antonetti stated that they are still working hard and tlking to several other teams trying to make move to improve this team into the future and he was talking alot about long term control. Shapiro was a phone interview the other day on STO and he talked about they were still talking trade and talking to several agents of FA out there and he also hit on long term control when he was talking trades with Bruce Drennen. indiansfan1234 wrote:

Re: Cabrera & Cardinals
IMHO the Cardinals may have to step it up to get Cabrera and most like dangle a Starter better than Blair to make a deal happen.
If the Cardinals offered either Shelby Miller or Trevor Rosenthal as the center piece in a deal with Mike Adams being the filler then IMHO Asdrubal would be gone.
I would deal Asbrubal even up for Shelby Miller.

RE: Cabrera & Cardinals
I want Lance Lynn in the worst way. Im not as familiar with their SP prospects. Lynn is a workhorse who can miss bats.

Re: Cabrera & Cardinals
You know. I listened to that when the Indians traded away Peralta for nothing, that he's fat and out of shape and we should trade him... Cabrera is better then Peralta and yes he might not be in perfect shape, but I could think of 29 other teams that would find a spot for him on there roster!!!! Cabrera did shut down the second half of last year, but it's not like anybody else was playing good the second half either!!! Cabrera is 26 year's old and I would sign him up until he is atleast 35!!! We have the money to put into younger player's that will help this team in the future and unless we get a package of (COLON Type) I would love to see Cabrera into 2020 playing for the Indians!!! kcatthebat wrote: In 2010 I would have said yes to a 5 even a 6 year extension of Astro but not now we must be watching 2 different players.

RE: Cabrera & Cardinals
Only way I would sign ACab long term is if I could move himt to second...only way I would move him to second is if I traded Kipnis...only way I would trade Kipnis is if I was absolutely blown away by an offer like a true ace pitcher for example. Long way of saying I would be looking to trade ACab for all the same reasons as Kcat although I think his conditioning would be much less of an issue at 2b.

You could move Kipnis to 3rd which is probably his best position. How can we know that if he has never played there? Did he play there in college?

You could move Kipnis to 3rd which is probably his best position. You could also move him to the OF. He was drafted as a 2B/OF. When he was drafted the concern was whether his hitting was strong enough enough to play OF or his defense was good enough to play second. The answer to both of those questions is no doubt yes so Cleveland would have some options if Cabrera was still around when Lindor is ready.

RE: Cabrera & Cardinals
I would trade Kipnis before I moved him to the OF. His value is clearly at 2B, and a team should be willing to give up similar value for the privilege to play him there.
I really don't see a situation where that happens, though.

RE: Cabrera & Cardinals
We've all talked alot about the whole Asdrubal situation without even seeing that there may be a way to solve several issues from within and I totally agree with keeping Astro if he is moved back to 2nd. How about this if we are suck with going into Spring Training the way everything is at this date Day #1 of Spring Training Chiz 3rd Aviles SS Astro 2nd Reynolds 1st Brantley LF Stubbs CF Kipnis RF Santana C Canzler DH Saying the Above off the top of my head the only way I would even think about trading Jason Kipnis is if the following returns were like the following Baltimore --- Bundy / & Schoop or Delmonico Boston --- Barnes / Bradley & Jacobs Cardinals --- Miller / Rosenthal / Adams And so on jameseboy wrote: Only way I would sign ACab long term is if I could move himt to second...only way I would move him to second is if I traded Kipnis...only way I would trade Kipnis is if I was absolutely blown away by an offer like a true ace pitcher for example.
