Choo on the verge of going to the Reds?

The Reds would play him in CF

Umm, OK. He's a good leadoff guy to have, though.

I do not like Drew Stubbs. At all.

Gregorius I don't know much about.

I can't say I would much understand this trade.

For Stubbs and Gregorius?  Really?  A 28yo OF w/ an OPS+ of 61, because we lack light-hitting outfielders?  And a shortstop prospect, because we lack SS prospects?

I would rather play out the string with Choo.

It makes sense if other moves come with it, like trading Cabrera and signing Swisher.

There has to be a pitcher involved, too, doesn't there?

Ken_Rosenthal4:16pm via Twitter for Mac

Choo has played 10 career games in CF, which is where #Reds reportedly would use him. Also: 6 ys of Gregorius and 3 of Stubbs for 1 of Choo?

Gregorius is a ML ready SS. Slick fielder with a decent bat. Lots of interest in him this off-season.

Stubbs is awful however.  Great speed but only decent in center.  They should ask for Corcino instead.

New report by Knobler says the Indians would be sending someone else too.

Dear god why do they like Stubbs?

Love the idea of getting Gregorius for one year of Choo.

Stubbs doesn't offer much. Would rather just give more ABs to Brantley.

UZR has the Indians as 57 runs below average last year with 23.9 of those runs coming from the outfield.  I imagine that functional defenders have started looking real good to the FO.

Still an odd deal, though.

Brantley would play LF, where he is a better fielder.

I have a theory that getting Didi would allow us to add a SS prospect to a Cabrera deal and get the 2 pitching prospects from the D'Backs that Antonetti has been pining for.  Just a theory.  We we can swing a Skaggs/Bauer/+ deal for Cabrera/SS prospect (Wolters?), you gotta do it.  Maybe the Reds deal gives us flexibility to make it happen.

Again, just a theory.

gregorius would be fine until lindor is ready. stubbs, well, he wasn't terrible in 2010. and that's about the best you can say for him. i'd much rather have a low-level starting pitcher with some potential.

Well, this would improve OF defense. I know little of Gregorius, but it could improve us defensively at SS too if he starts at SS in the wake of an Asdrubal Cabrera trade.

It really seems the Indians have been interested in getting some speed into the lineup. Victorino, Dee Gordon, and now Stubbs. I wonder if that's Francona's influence? Anyways, watching Reynolds and Stubbs strike out 30% of the time is going to be pretty frustrating.

The Indians were over 40 runs below average between the outfield and shortstop last year by UZR. I know, one year UZR and all that, but geez.

What the hell is impressive about Gregorius?

433 Minor League Games

.271/.323/.376/.699
40 SB 30 CS
107 Errors

So he doesn't get on base, doesn't hit for power, doesn't steal bases, and makes lots of errors. (32 in 2010.)

Oh, he's also a left-handed hitter.

AWESOME!!!!!

If true, it's time to take a page from KC's playbook and start an organization called "Save Our Tribe"
