Trade Ideas for Choo
Since the Tribe's FO apparently didn't find the reported St. Louis and Arizona deals for Cabrera enticing enough, perhaps the Tribe braintrust should next look to move Choo before his value diminishes even further. Right now the Yankees outfield and infield situations are arguably in shambles. With the big hole in RF, I think Choo would be a perfect fit with his bat in Yankee Stadium's short right field, his arm, and not insignificantly the NYC area's large Korean American population, which makes his post 2013 resigning a strong possibility. His Arby 3 salary should still be much less than other feasible alternatives. What could Shaponetti reasonably expect in return for Choo? I would start asking for Nova and/or Campo ++ and see Cashmen's reaction.

Re: Trade Ideas for Choo
I'm for keeping him since we have Brantley and uh and uh.....The Yanks get him next year without giving up prospects or get him at the trade deadline for less-they hold the cards I would think.
I'm in the minority- Sign Swisher and YOOOOOOUUUUK!! And get as much pitching as you can milk from dealing ACab and Perez.

Re: Trade Ideas for Choo
I saw that the Yankees were shopping Ivan Nova. https://twitter.com/AndrewMarc...715319643484160Would love to have him in our rotation, but not at the cost of Choo. Maybe they'll take Chris Perez as insurance against 43-year-old Mariano Rivera. Mike

Not the case with Nova. Does that change your preference? Yes, that seems like an absurd overpay for Hughes. I could see doing Perez for Hughes straight up, but I have no idea why we would have to include Choo in that deal. Nova is an interesting character. I would be happy if we got Hughes, Nova, and a prospect for Choo and Perez.

Re: Trade Ideas for Choo
did not realize that about hughes. i'm skeptical about nova, though he raised his K rate significantly last year. maybe that is a way to go. and if we send choo and perez, they send nova and maybe a prospect or two.

Nova's xFIP was below 4 last year and it was 4.16 the previous year. He got absolutely lit up at home last year. I'm not saying he is the next Cy Young, but I like his upside based largely on the K rates you noted. If we managed to do this proposed deal and got Bauer or Skaggs from Arizona, then I would consider it a pretty good offseason. That might even open us up to trading Masterson, but who knows.

Re: Trade Ideas for Choo
There is talk that Nova is not even secure in the Yankees rotation for 2013 so I would think he is available at a reasonable price.

RE: Trade Ideas for Choo
I would trade one year of Choo for four years of Nova without too much hesitation.

Re: Trade Ideas for Choo
If we signed Swisher I would deal Choo or CP even up for Nova if they wanted both and we could add a prospect or 2 then that would all be gravy IMHO.
Guys that may be touchable in their top 20 that I like
Tyler Austin Ramon Floras Nick Turley Jose Campos Raval Santana
No clear cut stars here but all guys with high upside.

Re: Trade Ideas for Choo
Just the Yankee way they would rather give that slot to a pitcher like Garcia JMHO. In our rotation he would be a upgrade to all out 4 and 5 guys and most likely brings way more to the table then what we will get out of Ubaldo this season. If you think about the rumored focus of the indians Antonetti he seems to be wanting to key in on quality major league ready or just at the major league level type starting guys which tells me he realizes he has a huge problem throughout the rotation at this time they seem to wanting to go with long term high upside young starters going forward. RE: Trade Ideas for Choo
Another idea occurred to me (hope the Tribe FO is similarly exhaustive in their rumination on trade ideas). Would Choo fill the Reds needs for a leadoff hitter??? This would work only if Ludwick doesn't return. I understand the Reds may part with Leake, who would fit our SP needs nicely. Maybe we could package Choo with Smith plus a low level prospect for Leake?
