Not my first choice, but a definate upgrade. Wether in LF. or CF  (with Brantley moving to left)......would possibly give us the best outfield, in over 10 years = Victorino-Brantley-and Choo.  I also like the fact the he is an A+ clubhouse guy & if nothing else, would be the immediate leader our young team needs.  Ideal #2 hitter also.  The article went on to say that Francona personally flied out to meet Shane face to face, so it sounds pretty serious. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/...-victorino.html

All depends on the terms for me. At least we're showing some signs of life.

Red Sox have gone 3/38 so I don't think this is gonna happen.

How long before this turns into "Shaponetti were just trying to look good, they had no intention of signing him"?

It won't be from me because this is one signing I wouldn't like.

well you definitely won't like it if cleveland has to beat boston's offer of 3 years $38 million.

This is an instance where I'm actually relieved we came in second.

done deal: 3/$37.5MM for a 32-year-old who hit .255/.321/.383 in 2012. indians should send a thank you gift to the red sox.

For once I am ok with this not happening.

I want the Indians to win more than anyone, trust me. That is why I am so hard on them. Some people call me names and make fun of me. I am not a WAR, OPS kind of person. I look at players as how they are overall and yes, sometimes just by their name and not numbers.

I am tired of being tired, but I will never stop being a fan.

Not really much of a gamble for the RSox. If Victorino doesn't always work out, they can always ship him to their saviour - the Dodgers. banghead

I guess I'm in the minority...I wish they would have signed Victorino. The team I watch every day for six months would be an improved product. This is a good thing.

This team needs at least one solid outfielder and signing SV would take care of that need for 3-4 years. If the Tribe had someone even close to filling that role in the minors that would be one thing, but they don't.

I'm fully aware of the horrible financial ramifications of sinking so much of ownership's legal tender into this cespool of a FA signing, but I'm willing to take that chance.cool

Rosenthal's saying it's a done deal...to the Bosox 3/39M.  Bad deal for the Bosox, but not as bad as the Pagan/SF deal IMO.

If this were a team on the brink, maybe I'd be less adamant against that kind of deal, but how much better does he make this team? A game or 2? That doesn't justify that kind of contract. And actually hinders them from getting better imo. I think 37 million could be put to better use. And if they make that deal, they pretty much have shot most of their wad. Free agency - done.

Sure, the 37 million could be put to better use but will they spend it?

Being an eternal optimist, I was hoping for Victorino and getting a starter and first baseman for ACab and Perez. Keep Choo for the entire year.

Brantley Victorino Choo

Chiz Aviles Kippy New Guy

Santana and DH

Oh well.

I agree, the indians offered him 4 years 44 million, that's crazy after the year he had last year, I was thinking 3 years 25 million, wow!!!
