Per Rotoworld - Ubaldo Jimenez
San Diego has interest in trading for Jimenez. Wonder what they would be willing to trade for him? Might be a win - win for both teams... Any thoughts..

Rotoworld took this from a San Diego Times-Union article that went on to say: Acquiring Jimenez would take a trade with Cleveland. And the Indians seem ready to discuss a trade involving Jimenez. But what would it take? And what are the Padres offering?
The Padres have depth at the corner outfield slots, in the bullpen and at middle infield. The names most often mentioned as possible trade chips are relief pitchers Luke Gregerson and Joe Thatcher and outfielder-first baseman Jesus Guzman. Setup man Gregerson and left-handed specialist Thatcher are two key members of the Padres bullpen. But both are arbitration eligible and the Padres have alternate candidate at both slots. Some teams, particularly in the American League, like Guzman for his prowess against left-handed pitching as a platoon player or designated hitter. The Padres believe Kyle Blanks and James Darnell, who also have health issues, could cover the loss of Guzman.
The Padres also have some attractive prospects. But Byrnes is hesitant to start trading from a talented but still shallow farm system.

Re: Per Rotoworld - Ubaldo Jimenez
I doubt Yonder Alonso would be in play, but if he is, he would be my first choice. If he isn't, they have another couple decent players who can play 1B who just have not been given a full-time opportunity. Kyle Blanks is a big guy with lots of power (20 HR's in 425 career major league at bats) who didn't see much action last year. Now I don't know if that due to injury or not, but either way I would take him. Give him a full-time spot at 1B and I think he's got 20-30 HR potential. Jesus Guzman would also interest me some. He's not the power threat that Blanks is, but is a bit better at hitting for an average and getting on base. Guzman is one of those guys in a full-time role at 1B could hit around .280 with a .340 OBP and a near .800 OPS with about 15 HR's. And on top of 1B, both of these guys can play both corner OF positions. Obviously Alonso would be the greater prize, but IMHO, if he's not on the table, I think both Blanks and Guzman have very good potential to be solid consolation prizes.

Re: Per Rotoworld - Ubaldo Jimenez
Ubaldo would do much better for a NL team; I'm sure Antonetti is going to ask for a top prospect or a major league ready player... He might not get that, but i'm sure he would like to forget trading Pom for a starter that's leads the league in losses over the last 2 years...

You need to get Blanks or Guzman and a decent propect for Jimenez. Jimenez just needs a little tweaking and he could be a decent starter in San Diego.

Re: Per Rotoworld - Ubaldo Jimenez
Yep thats it just a little tweak or at least that is what we've been hearing since that deal happened that is. I would deal Ubaldo even up for Blanks or deal Ubaldo and throw in laPorta for Alonzo just to move on. Any one quality player that would be under team control for 2 or 3 years would bring more to the table for this team that Ubaldo has or will ever bring to the table. bayside123 wrote: You need to get Blanks or Guzman and a decent propect for Jimenez. We had a player like Blanks, his name was Shelly Duncan. I think Jimenez is worth a little more than a player like Blanks who has a .219 lifetime batting average. If you were the GM for this club, you be easy, and just giving away player. Let be serious!

Re: Per Rotoworld - Ubaldo Jimenez
+1 I would not be shocked if the Indians found a team interested in Ubaldo they might even have to give up a couple mil in the deal to get any type of quality player or prospect back for Ubaldo even in a one for one type deal. buddy34 wrote: blanks is better than duncan. and that's about all ubaldo is worth.
