HS pitchers will go to the AZL if they pitch at all in their draft year. Since he signed early, I am guessing he will pitch some this year, but it will be with the AZL Reds. It is a lower level and it is at their spring training complex where they can work with him more. That is my guess. They took a shot and missed. Their draft sucks now. I honestly think Appel is making a mistake. New agreement notwithstanding, take that contract.
