Defense

Defense

As Reds fans we are privaliged (not sure if I spelled that right) and spoiled to watch the Reds defense every game while other fans get excited about a good play every now and then. The Reds make good and great plays routinely on an everyday basis. Gold glovers all over the field, with Phillips and Cozart turning great double plays and Votto at first and Bruce in right with his great arm. Their defense is the reason they have a great chance to keep in contention this year, along with the great starting pitching, of course.

And Hamilton in center, with his speed and great arm, can't forget about him.

How is Mesoraco doing on D this year?  I read about his bat but I don't know how he does calling games, catching games and throwing out (would be) base stealers.

Meseraco has been pretty solid. Not sure what his success rate is throwing out runners but I believe he has been very decent. All around, very good I would say.

How does Brandon Phillips not win the Gold Glove. There is NO ONE even close to the caliber of defensive 2nd baseman as him. That is just a freaking joke to give the Gold Glove to anyone else. He should be pissed. I know I am for him.

He missed too much time due to injury.  Granted, he did get hurt making a Gold Glove caliber type play.

True, he missed time, but there's no doubt he is the best defensive 2nd baseman in baseball, not just the National League. It's just a shame he doesn't get it cause he got hurt.
