Yanks bench Arod. 

Only 5 years and 114 million left on that deal. Hope nobody bails them out on this. He could be the highest paid platoon player ever starting next year. Useless in the field and now can't hit RH pitching. Yanks are also on the hook for huge bonuses:

An organization that has historically frowned upon bestowing individual performance bonuses on its players put $30 million worth of them into A-Rod's contract, $6 million each for tying Willie Mays, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and Bonds on the all-time list, then another $6 million for hitting No. 763 to become baseball's home run king.

They really deserve each other.

There is no resistance to the fact that ARod is a shell of his former self, but he is still an above-average 3B comparative to the rest of the league.  He won't be a platoon player next year barring the unexpected (i.e. signing David Wright, ARod really falling off the cliff).


Baez has "top-shelf bat speed," according to one National League scout who recently saw him play. "I haven't seen that type of bat speed this year outside of the big leagues. It's pure, unadulterated, just violent bat-speed."

He is a below average defender and 38 games at DH this season. He will get his 500 ABs but more and more will come from the DH spot. I want him to bleed the Yanks out of another 30 million, so I hope he doesn't fall off a cliff.

A. Rod is getting the Soriano treatment.  He's not what he once was and not worth what he's being paid for but he's not this awful player either.

He's being scapegoated by the Yank fans.  Granderson is hitting under .100, Cano hitting under .200, Martin barley over .200, Swisher terrible....




I will not believe that starting Eric Chavez gives them a better shot to win than Alex Rodriguez.

Yeah but all those guys hit during the season (except Martin who is there for his defense really). A-Rod had a miserable season for what they pay him. And defensively, Chavez is most likely the better option.

Give Girardi credit. It took balls to pinch hit for him in Game 3 and sit him in Game 5. And both times, it worked.
