2012 Playoffs
Controversy already with the in-field fly rule call during Cardinals/Braves game last night. Both road teams won last night so much for home field advantage so far.

Re: 2012 Playoffs
All I ask is that the Nationals realize that the Cardinals love being the underdogs and knock them out. I don't care what happens after that.

I feel better about that series if Washington had Strasburg. I be curious to see how their season would have turn out had they managed him like the Braves did with Kris Medlen. IMO, they still would have won their division (or least made the playoffs) and had him available to start along with Gio González and be their 1/2 punch.

Re: 2012 Playoffs
Great performance by the Reds bullpen last night, you have to tip your cap to them. Cueto goes out in the first inning due to back spasms and they only give up 2 runs the rest of the way.

seedlessgrapes wrote: To be fair Mat Latos had alot to do with it True but even with him going a strong 4 innings, they still needed 4 other guys to throw 1 inning apiece to complete the game. Plus I count Latos as part of the bullpen last night since he wasn't slated to pitch but suddenly was called into action as a reliever.

Re: 2012 Playoffs
Why did the wild card Cardinals get to start the NLDS at home?

I am also curious to see if A-Rod gets dropped in the lineup. 1-9 so far this playoff series. He looks awful right now.

Nice time for Harper to crap the bed as well. And of course, the stupid decision to sit Strasburg is going to benefit who else. I should have known.

RE: 2012 Playoffs
So Pete Kozma, he of the .652 career minor league OPS, takes over at short after Furcal gets hurt, hits .333/.383/.569 down the stretch and just hit a 3 run homer in a playoff game.
Because of course he does. God I hate the Cardinals.

That organization has a horseshoe up its ass, I don't know how anyone can deny it.

Re: 2012 Playoffs
So, who hits a HR to give the Orioles the lead over the Yankees today? Ryan Flaherty, the guy they stole from the Cubs in the Rule 5 draft. We didn't protect him so we could instead get whom? Lendy Castillo? Granted, Flaherty hasn't exactly set the world on fire for the Orioles, but still...that's just about how our Cub luck works.

RE: 2012 Playoffs
More great stuff last night. Girardi has the b*lls to pinch hit for A-Rod and it literally works out as well as it possibly could have as Ibanez ties it in the bottom of the 9th, then wins it in the 12th.
Then in the late game the A's get 3 in the bottom of the 9th to force a Game 5. So thanks to them and the Giants, we have 4 games again today, including two elimination games.

RE: 2012 Playoffs
Pretty amazing that the Orioles were the first team since 1900 to not suffer a walk-off loss this season. Also has to sting that much more that they lost in that fashion last night. I don't know how you can lead up that at-bat to Ibanez with a fastball.
Baez has "top-shelf bat speed," according to one National League scout who recently saw him play. "I haven't seen that type of bat speed this year outside of the big leagues. It's pure, unadulterated, just violent bat-speed."

RE: 2012 Playoffs
Damn Reds. Not that I particularly care for Cincinnati, but I do enjoy seeing new teams in the playoffs. We'll see how the rest of the day plays out, but I'm starting to feel like a Cards-Giants-Yankees-Tigers final 4 is inevitable here.
