Baker is 2 for 15 against lefties.  By all means start him.  At least you left that other scrub out of the lineup.

I read LaHair is getting a day off, since he's slumping.  Both he and Campana can't hit lefties, actually none of our LH hitter can

Buster Onley just tweeted, "A symptom of why the Cubs are playing so poorly: Starlin Castro has twice as many errors (8) as walks (4)."

So, we've got that going for us.

We all know what Starlin is, so that's not extremely surprising.  But I will say he's seemed abnormally aggressive this season.  Just my opinion, but I believe it's stemming from him hitting 3rd in the order.  He knows he's got to be a run producer hitting there, and he's trying too hard to do it by swinging at a lot more pitches.

Neither can our RH hitters.

Seems Castro has been stuck on 8 errors.  At least he's cleaning up his defense, right?

I see the same thing. There's no reason to have him in that role when he was so productive leading off last year.

So, if one is of the opinion that DeJesus is doing a decent job at leadoff, one would have to be of the opinion that Catrso did a better job in that role last year in 350 abs (.326/370/471). Why was it necessary to add DeJesus to a role already being filled in well. A run producing RF is more of a need here than a leadoff RF.

Re: How 'bout this lineup tonight?

This is the actual lineup tonight:

David DeJesus, RF
Reed Johnson, CF
Starlin Castro, SS
Alfonso Soriano, LF
Joe Mather, 3B
Jeff Baker, 1B
Darwin Barney, 2B
Blake Lalli, C
Travis Wood, P

Johnson, Baker and Mather are a combined 9 for 53 against lefties this year, although Mather does have a .409 OBP against them.  In fact, Mather is the lesser of the three evils on the bench.  Why Johnson continues to be go-to guy for pinch hitting, especially against righties, is beyond me.  Mather has a .946 OPS against them and an .862 OPS overall to Johnson's .682.

That lineup is laughable.  I might be able to throw a quality start against that..not really, but u get it.

How about Wood already! :(
You don't save a pitcher for tomorrow. Tomorrow it may rain.

I agree...Johnson is quickly becoming the Jose Macias of 2012

I think it was Jason Goff on The Score who said that tonight's lineup reminded him of a spring training split-squad game...not sure if this would be the "A" team or the "B" team, though :(

I'm fine with DeJesus in the #2 or even #7 or #8 spot if you want to hit Castro lead-off (I'd keep DeJesus lead-off and hit Castro in the 2 hole).  There's room for a guy like DeJesus in RF if you're getting power production from LF and 3b (which we're not).

Re: How 'bout this lineup tonight?

I've seen more in 2 starts from Wood than in 8 from Volstad this year.  I think you have to keep him up and let him pitch.  He's looked more like the kid we saw 2 years ago.  Granted it's only 2 outings, but he's been pretty good.

If he keeps it up, I can get behind a 1-2-3 of Garza, Shark, and Wood moving forward.  Add another FA top of the rotation guy and let it ride.

Re: How 'bout this lineup tonight?

Camp pitches around Carlos Lee and then makes some bad pitch selections to martinez..all in all though even though he gave up the lead i still like camp...But enough with the errors!!! Cubs pitchers lead the majors now with 10 errors!!!!
