AA/Rizzo/Castro should be automatically the middle of the lineup to the season ends.

Losing is the main priority again, trotting out the by the book platoon lefty S & S OF duo with Ruggiano on the bench (when he should be starting and batting behind Castro) Below: JR, NS, RS.

No more like trying to showcase Sweeney and Schierholtz to see if they get a nibble on the open market. I honestly think they look at  Ruggiano as someone they might try to resign for next year.

Ruggiano is arb eligible the next to 2 season and free agent in 2017

Take it easy on the guy.

FYI- just saw this:

http://www.sportsinjuryalert.com/2014/07/cubs-inju ry-update-edwin-jackson-justin.html#.U9K_qONdUaA

FWIW JR is on a 1 year 2million contract with the Cubs. He would be great to bring back next season at the right price.

Showcasing NS and RS- with those numbers, to who?

Doesn't Ruggiano have a pulled crotch from a couple games ago? He might be day-to-day and hence not available today.

Re: Cubs vs Cardinals

good god almost 70 pitches through 2 inningsdisbelief

The issues with Wood and Jackson have to be addressed immediately.... the bullpen cant keep doing this....I know it is counterproductive but I seriously think if we are stuck with these 2 we might have to put Villanueva back in as a starter and go with a 6 man rotation just to keep the young pen healthy...or if that dont work get another long reliever or 2 from Iowa...and send some of our better relievers down...it sounds stupid...but I dont see much better options right nowohlord

Good point and again, I think they see Ruggiano as a solid bench outfield bat for next year so playing Sweeney and Nate right now hoping they get hot at the right time (just before the trade deadline) makes sense.

Not good and continuing a trend, but per the box score his defense has given STL 2 extra outs and 3 unearned runs?

If you give up extra outs the pitching will suffer.

Or you can just admit you were wrong especially considering that most likely Goblin is correct that Rugg is not available to have a minor injury. Really not that difficult....or well it shouldn't be.
