Cubs leading 3-1

Ruggiano and Coghlan doing damage...think we should hold on to these 2...unless we get something decent in return

4-1 Cubs...Coghlans speed produces a run

and the Cubs continue to play good baseball.

The Cubs have won 7 of their last 8 road games.  I agree with Theo.  The Cubs aren't a fun team to play.  Castro's RBI total is now an even 50.  Hope Rizzo gets out of his slump soon.

The guys that are hoping to get traded (Barney, Nate, etc are heating up. Works for me. If just one of Ruggiano/Coghlan/Sweeney pans out we might have one OF spot for next year, at least until Soler is ready.

Re: Cubs vs Nationals

Jason Hammel's last day as a Cub was a nice quality start and a quality win.  I guess we'll see who will be the "Ace" of the Cub starting rotation for the rest of the season now.  I got ace in quotes cause I dont think anyone in the Cub rotation is even remotely close to being an ace starting pitcher.

Someone on tv (I think on the WGN news actually) predicted a week from now, Shark and Hammel would both be on different teams.  He was partially right.  They're actually on the same A's team instead of 2 different teams.

You haven't been watching Jake Arrietta for the last month or so.  He is pitching like an ace, 2nd only to Kershaw last month.  Not saying he's an "ace" based on part of the season, but he is "remotely close" to be sure.

Actually Arieta is the closest thing to a Cub ace in the rotation now.  I have a strong feeling he's gonna be traded before August 1st.  Cause since he has a low starters ERA a lotta playoff contending teams love to see, you gotta think the Cubs are trying to sell him for future prospects.

My bad for not seeing this before I thought of Arrieta.  He aint Kershaw, I agree with that fully.  But the way he's been dominating on the mound, I just hope he aint looking darn impressive in his starts since June just to increase his chances of getting traded to a contender.

What makes you think Arrieta's going to be traded?  He's cheap and under control for three more years.  Get a clue.

I wish Theo would relieve us of Jackson and Villanueva.  Watching them give up hits left and right with two strikes is torture.

the latter will be gone soon...hope that was his last attempt at starting...I think Theo was hoping for a bit more value from Villanueva but it aint happening...he is at best long relief.his .....still chances for Beeler, maybe one more for Rusin...abd soon hopefully Hendricks

Needless to say Rusin and Villanueva have been less than serviceable today...lets hope for better from Wada who gets shot against the Reds for the doubleheader
