The rankings appear not to consider the contracts when saying what the 'best' signings were. Does anyone here really believe that giving Cano $240M over 10 years was the 6th best signing made this offseason? How many will think it was a good deal 5 years from now?

Gotta agree, and for that matter, did the Orioles give up a comp pick for one year of Cruz?  I guess it makes sense if you think you are definitely competing, which they are, but still makes me scratch my head a bit.  Maybe we are all turning into GMs too much.

Interesting that 16 of the top 20 are on either a 1 or 2 year deal. Seems to be a ton of value going cheap on guys coming off injury or bad years.

Cruz did get a QO, rejected it, then signed for about half the value of the QO. Baltimore gave up their 2nd round pick to sign Cruz (their 1st rounder was forfeited when they signed Ubaldo Jimenez).
