Re: Cubs vs Pirates

Mike Olt even with his struggles and limited playing time STILL leads the NL rookies in both HR and RBI...that doesnt speak well for the rest of the rookie talent in the NL this year

In my uneducated opinion, Olt has to be sent down. He looks terrible at the plate

Luis Valbuena is pretty good. Rizzo is very good.

EDIT: After 2-2 today, Valbuena's OBP is up to .386 with an OPS of .828.

lol...speaking of bad, will Castro ever learn to finish the play in front of him before trying to throw?

The two combined are hitting .129.   Even our pitchers can do better than that.

Rizzo's OPS up to .920. He's now top 10 in the league, and top 5 in OBP.

Re: Cubs vs Pirates

Russell, he walked the lefty Alvarez who was pinch hitting and was promptly replaced by Ramirez.

So great to see him bounce back this year and progress even more, especially when some people were beginning to second guess the Cashner trade.  He and Bryant could make for a potent middle of the order L-R combo for years to come.

+1     I've liked Rizzo ever since he came up and  I think we're looking at a guy who will consistently hit .280, 25-30 homers and draw a lot of walks while playing GG defense at first.  Mark Grace with power.

I'd say his defense isn't quite as good as Grace's at this point.

Valbo really has been good. He deserves the majority of playing time at 3b. We'll see what happens at the deadline.
