Good quick 1st inning for Wood. Hopefully he can get through 7

Re: Cubs vs Cardinals - Game 2

I'm getting Yankees/Red Sox on FOX.  Sucks, guess I'll watch Sori on mute with the Cubs on the radio.

P.S.  Not everyone, not even those in the Midwest, prefer to see Yankees/Red Sox over Cubs/Cardinals, FOX.

Sori dunks a ball a foot off the plate into CF for a hit and steals second base to lead off the inning.  Funny seeing A-Rod batting after him.

Red Sox SS makes a nice over-the-shoulder running catch and doubles up Sori.  frown

What happened with the Lake CF experiment?

Though his bat has been weak, Starlin has stepped it up defensively

He really has, but he's still getting shite for that too.  They can't point to errors anymore these past few months so now he's too tentative.

Re: Cubs vs Cardinals - Game 2

It's funny how Barney kills Cardinal pitching.  If it's not an extra base hit, it's a swinging bunt for a hit.

Too bad DeJesus' preseason bunting title couldn't translate to in-game action there.

Lake shows a good eye and walks to load the bases for Rizzo.  And he K's on a pitch up and away.  Up to Nate.

And of course, after the Cubs choke away a scoring opportunity the Cardinals hit back-to-back doubles.

Jesus Christ, Wood.  Ahead of Kozma and walks him.  Kelly squares to bunt, goes 0-2 and then he hits him.

Sacrifice fly to the shortstop.

That was terrible on Castro's part. Another mental gaffe

To be fair, that was Lake's play to make.  He was in better position.  He should have called off Castro and the run wouldn't have scored.

Really has no bearing on the fact that Castro had a mental lapse. The run scored because Castro had his head up his ass, plain and simple. Why do people always try to make excuses for him?

CBS sports had already picked up he article:

Accountability for everyone.. sveum, castro, hoyer
Epstien.. everyone, thats this teams mantra, according to first couple of news confrences... Sveum had to bench a guy who constantly has his head up HIS ASS..
Not the kind of impact play this club is looking for.

+1. Sveum had no choice. That was just a lack of focus by Castro that can't be tolerated anymore. 100% on him.

No excuse for what Castro did but his job is to catch the damn ball. No one told him Jay was tagging up. Lake told him after he went. Donnie Murphy said nothing. Its not just Castro on the play. Poor communication but Dale throws Castro under the bus on national TV.

I guess Castro won't depend on someone else to tell him to be ready to throw the ball

Bases loaded, one out, pop up so shallow the infield fly rule is called. Yes it is his job to catch the ball and then.... check the runner on third, because no other runner is moving. I don't care if anybody says a word. Catch the ball and check the runner, little league stuff. Stop the excuses!
