Re: Prospect timetable
Much more important than the timetable is that the list is their top 10 prospects in order.

I thought the more important note was that you have 2 more years before you hope to have some impact players from the minors. Does this mean 2-3 more years of signing and trading for stop gap solutions ?

Re: Prospect timetable
Dan Vogelbach is going to be a great hitter in the league I think, that dude can rake a baseball. Saying that I don't think he'll be raking any baseballs with us and I fully expect him to be part of some trade at some point to get a pitching prospect.
Hard to believe that Paul Maholm and Reed Johnson could return the #4 prospect in our system and that is taking into consideration he hasn't even pitched in a year.

Does this mean 2-3 more years of signing and trading for stop gap solutions ? Why wouldn't it? Does the idea of a long term plan not register with you? (That's rhetorical) That said, if they see a deal like the Rizzo one out there they will take it.

That said, if they see a deal like the Rizzo one out there they will take it. Long term should be building an organization - no reason the major league team can't be improved short term as you build your long term organization.

I think Lake has a good chance to be an everyday player.

So is repeating the same thing again and again and again and again... cubs2007, you supply a different perspective from many posters on the board, which is a good thing. You clearly care about your position, which is also a good thing. Just please cite references when using them (sometimes you do), and please try to refrain from the circular, repetitive arguments. I (and others) have and will try to avoid them as well.

Another topic that is getting old. I never claim so one elses work as my own. If you want to debate the Cubs then I will express my opinion and if you need documentation I will provide it.

It is intellectual dishonesty. When you copy and paste an author's paragraph verbatim and don't reference it, you are representing it as your own. Whether you think it is getting 'old' or not, I will point it out and criticize you for it every time I see you do it. Obviously I won't catch them all.

Again - The authors name is usually in the post or I state where it came from. It is this kind of crap that probably stops many from participating in baseball discussions. Do you have any comments on prospects reaching the Cubs roster ?

Do you have any comments on prospects reaching the Cubs roster ? If you say, "as Dave Kaplan said" and then paste the quote, that is fine. That isn't plagiarizing. Only when you lift text without attribution. As for this being the stuff that stops people from posting, you are the main culprit for this activity, and people calling you out for it doesn't stop you from posting, so I'm guessing that's not it.

RHP Dillon Maples (2017) On the timeline, they really should go to 11 or so, because Vitters I suspect to get another shot in 2013, and he needs it. Vitters, Jackson and Vizcaino I see getting a shot to contribute in 2013. Baez...others really seem to like him. Gary Sheffield bat speed is what they say. According to Phil Rogers, a longtime baseball exec. expects him to be "far more impactful than Starlin Castro". Now that is a huge endorsement: http://sulia.com/source/58131/ I think Ramble originally gave us this link, and it is a good one. Lots of nice info.

I think Ramble originally gave us this link, and it is a good one. Lots of nice info. I think Vitters and Jackson won't reach their projected ceilings. They may play in the majors but it does not look like they will become impact starters. They could be an average starter or end up bench players. Vizcaino still needs to show he can stay healthy as a starter. My guess is he ends up the closer in 2014 after Marmol leaves. Lets wait to see how Baez does at AA and if he can stay at SS before getting too excited.
