The Birds should be able to score some runs the 1st 2 games. Monday Gausman will be on a short leash with an expanded bullpen.

Should win the first two games. Just split the last two and we win another series. biggrin

I hate it when these two teams play each other. I will be a Birds fan this time since wins are more impt for them.
Gibson is hot and cold. He is either lights out, or you get to him right away. A very strange season. Hughes is having a good season and may be the O's biggest challenge.
Twins are hitting pretty well lately...so don't take them for granted.

At this point in the season, splitting a 4 game set would probably keep us even with the Yankees which is actually fine. That gives them 4 less games to make up the same amount of ground. With 26 games left after this series, if we are still 7 games up, the Yankees are circling the drain.

If we win 3 out of 4 we probably gain at least a game on the Yankees. That's time for them to call a priest in for last rights.

If we sweep this 4 game set (not an undoable task against the Twins) it's nails in the New York coffin.

The only catch with this series is the 2 back to back day games on Sunday and Monday. Blah!

For POPPA! We won't stop!

if we play .500 the rest of the way
the yanks have to go 21-9 to catch us

Good luck with that

Don't forget that we still have 8 games with the Yankees. Things can change in a whopping hurry the last half of September. Certainly we are clearly in the drivers seat. But all of a sudden we have a couple of starters who are struggling. One of those two (Norris and Gausman) need to turn it back around next month. Don't need both (that would be sweet) but we do need one of them.

4-4 against the Yankees in September can be done. If so the magic drops in a hurry. Lets worry about the Twins 1 game at a time.

Why the hell are we not selling out games while we are in the middle of a playoff hunt?

Davis hits Grand Slam! Did you see that swing? That's the way he was swinging last year, how many did he hit out with that upper cut swing?  And they have been trying to get him away from that all season.  Leave the man alone!!!!

Pearce was taken out as a precaution since he felt a twinge in his abdomen yesterday. I'd say that is a good call considering we already are short on players with a decent OBP.

Didn't see the game. Loved the result. Why did Pearce leave the game? Nice GS by Davis. Young with #7. He, Joseph and Hardy still could get 10 this year.
Yanks win too to remain 7 behind.

O's take a slim 3-2 lead into the 9th as Britton tries to give the team an 8 game lead over the Yankees as August winds down.

Re: Minnesota Twins vs Baltimore Orioles [W-?-?-?]

Britton makes short work of the Twins in the 9th, fanning the final two hitters Mauer and Vargas to notch his 30th save and give the O's an 8 game lead over NY. Parades with his first HR.
Chris Davis with the game winning SAC FLY! And Davis breaks a very long streak of games stretching over 40 with at least one 'k'. Tonite no 'k's!
Davis now has 24 HR's and 68 RBI. If he gets to 30 HR's and perhaps 80-85 RBI I guess it might be considered a decent year, even if he doesn't get the BA over .200.

Look ahead...if the Orioles play just .500 the rest of the way....

NY must go 22-6 to tie
Toronto must go 24-3
Tampa must win out.

Looking good.

Have to love those numbers, but I don't want the O's to go easy going forward.  I don't want them to get to lackadaisical by the time the playoffs start.

Cruz with his league leading 35th and Good Ole Flaherty also goes deep with a key 3 run blast. Chen has been steady thru 5 innings.
