Three years ago yesterday

The Orioles traded Uehara for Tommy Hunter and Chris Davis. I said at the time that the Rangers overpaid and I still feel that way. After all this time, how do you guys feel about it knowing that Uehara is still a solid reliever?

You can find RP's but you cant find guys who hit 103 Home Runs in 3 seasons. With Home Run Tommy other than the 1st month of this season Hunter has not been so bad himself.

I think the Rangers got fleeced. However I also think the O's 'could' consider not re-signing Davis, depending on how he finishes up this season. things can go south in a hurry...just look at Jim Johnson. take nothing for granted.

Think that's really an apples and oranges scenario though. Pitchers have a tendency to go off the radar for some reason. At least with Davis, we are still getting a hitter that can still slug and most likely will end up hitting okay for at least a few more years.

Davis is under Orioles control through 2015 and could get a tender offer for 2016.

I understand the thinking...but I also just wonder how much of a drop-off the O's were willing to accept after his monster season? I can see his HR and RBI numbers cut in half.  Additionally, Cruz has really stopped producing. Fortunately the rest of the lineup continues to pick each other up.
Since MLB is now more of a business than anything else....the O's are looking at these guys with dollar signs. How much are they willing to spend to keep them around?
(translated...how much are they willing to overpay?)
