The first two games we are facing total garbage. HAVE to win those two and hopefully then get a win in game 3 or 4 and win this series. Past the half way point and time for these guys to put their abilities to work. No more talking about its still early. No more talk about how close we are. All that is fine and dandy but doesn't mean squat if you don't take advantage of the situation.

Jimenez was advertised as the best pitcher in baseball the second half of last year......well, it's the beginning of the second half.  Time to start earning that contract!

agreed. The TB series was a MAJOR disppointment. The pitching was terrible...everywhere. I could see some movement from within the organization soon regarding the pitching staff. From what I've seen of Norfolks lineup--no one has jumped out at me so far...and they are supposed to be a top hitting team, like Rochester. Yesterdays starter, Pettit was not good at all.

The Rangers are 7 games under .500

They are 19-21 on the road.

They are 5-10 against the AL East this season.

There is no excuse to not win 3 out of 4.

There is no reason why the Orioles can't win all 4 (though that is admittedly hard against any team)

Anything less than 3 out of 4 and it might be time to start discussing that Cruz trade, because the only reason to lose 2 or 3 of this series is because you simply don't have the mental desire to win.

The first two games of this series shouldn't even be competitive. They should be 10-1 blowouts. I'd even call 2-1 pitcher's duels a disappointment in games 1 and 2 and say it's further proof that Jim Presley is ineffective at assisting the hitters hit.

It's a lot to expect any team to beat Yu Darvish. He's been a bit inconsistent this season but he's still an absolute stud. I do expect the O's to split, but I'd prefer 3 of 4.

Next five days is time for Flaherty to prove himself once and for all.

I'm not super up to date on the Rangers' roster/player situations. Tell me why this is significant. (I'm sure it is. I just don't know why)

For the Orioles

Nick Markakis RF
Steve Pearce 1B
Nelson Cruz LF
Adam Jones CF
Chris Davis 3B
Delmon Young DH
J.J. Hardy SS
Jonathan Schoop 2B
Caleb Joseph C

Ubaldo Jimenez RHP

Davis replaces Machado, Davis has played 71 games at third in the Majors.

And, if memory serves, was very bad defensive wise at third. Hopefully they fix this.

wow--and its kinda strange that I was bringing up the Reynolds-Davis comparisons today--and saying that Davis doesn't play 3rd and Reynolds does...though I'd never want to see him there again for us.....this should be interesting. If it keeps Flaherty on the bench, I'm all for it. (even tho he has hit more HR's in the past 24 hours than Davis.......ha)

only glimmer of light is that for some reason the O's have fared pretty well this year against the elite pitchers. Hope that holds up with Darvish too.

Yikes. Crush at 3B? I would say they must know what they are doing but given some of the decisions from this teams staff I am not too sure about that. tongue

Apparently Davis had been quietly working out at third for about a week. So there's that.

very unlike Buck to sacrifice defense - he must be trying to wake him up, distract his mind from how much he's stinking it up at the plate

Wouldn't it be interesting if TB takes the series with the Yankees?
