It's not his elbow, it's his forearm.

Bundy wants a second opinion, I am assuming because he disagrees with the forearm diagnosis?  Otherwise he would not be going in for a second opinion, IMO tongue.

1st time I ever seen him was the Redskins playoff game 3 months back. They hired him to be on the field in the case RG3 went down and sure enough he did. There is another Dr out in California who is pretty popular with athletes the name slips my brain.

The last 3 words you want to hear in relation to an athlete are

DOCTOR
JAMES
ANDREWS

True, if they come back at all its at least a year delay.

Re: Dylan Bundy's Elbow

Even professional wrestlers go to Dr. Andrews. I remember a few years ago WWE took a camera to his office when he was diagnosing Triple H (I think) and then followed up on the rehab process as well. The first time I ever heard of him was in the early 1990s so, without looking it up, he has probably been doing this for at least 35 years. No athlete wants to have to see him but, if they do get injured, he is probably the guy they might trust the most to fix them up and get them back into the line-up as close to new as possible. All of that said, I hope this is just a bump in the road for Bundy, and not anything that might threaten his career.
I dream of 1966, 1970, and 1983. I would also take 1969, 1971, and 1979. But 1973, 1974, 1996, 1997, and 2012 were okay. Toss in 1960, 1968, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1989, and 1994 too.

Not good news. Guess it could be worse but this just may be the first step to correct whatever the issue is....who knows what's next. frown

I'm not optimistic for this year...usually those types of shots mean there's some sort of tear (possibly leading to tommy john) and they're hoping the shot will accelerate healing.

The good thing is that it does have some success; also, tommy john isn't what it used to be and pitchers can come back stronger...

This is the same procedure that Britton had last year, except it was his shoulder instead of his elbow, but let's hope Bundy produces much better results once he finally returns to the mound.

I know the Orioles were trying to change his mechanics in ST, and wonder if that's part of the problem?

With a track record like Andrews, you could say Bundy's arm is in good hands.

RE: Dylan Bundy's Elbow

I hear "Dr. James Andrews" and "Tommy John Surgery" and I think, hey, better now when he's 20 and pitching for Bowie than when he's 24 and pitching in a pennant race.

Besides, as others have said, many guys get TJ and come back even stronger. It's almost like a rite of passage for pitchers these days as it is...

Re: Dylan Bundy's Elbow

TJ surgery is still a big deal. Yes in most cases the pitcher comes back stronger than  before. However, that is still a big IF they come back and are able to pitch. Still if he is facing this it is better now than down the road. Still very young and lots of time to recover and have the long ace career we are all hoping for.
