ARod may just be the biggest juicer of all time...maybe has been using since he started back in Seattle.

RE: New BALCO-like scandal coming to light
many are now saying he will never play another game with the Yankees and that they are fed up with him. I;m sure they would love to be free of his contract. I'll be surprised if he reaches 3,000 hits or 700 HR's now. I don't think there is a team out there that wants him. Heck this could end up making Barry Bonds beloved....and get him into the HOF quicker! Arod may fall off the radar faster than Raffy Palmiero did. Watch to see how they deal with his injury rehab come July...

RE: New BALCO-like scandal coming to light
no one seems to want to play for the Mariners maybe he would go back but like some are saying with that 2nd hip surgery he is likely out for the season and career may be over.

might be in everyone's best interests if his career were over. Who would want to sign this guy anymore?

I tend to agree with you as I'm certainly not an ARod fan but at the same time the Yankees were greedy enough to sign him to that ridiculous contract and now the want to break the contract. They can go through what the O's did with Belle and have only 39 players till the contract runs out. I dislike the Evil Empire more than I do ARod and that is saying a lot.

Re: New BALCO-like scandal coming to light
From what I'm hearing, the Yankees did pay for insurance that would cover between 75-80% of what's left on A-rods contract. If A-Rod is disabled and can not play, that would kick in, although I'm sure the insurance company would raise some hell about whether A-rod is able to play. For a potential hit of up to 90 million, I think they'd want to see all the reports and bring in their own experts.
Probably the best thing for the Orioles is A-rod has a stretch of several years like Brian Roberts has had, where one thing after another goes wrong but the Yankees have to carry his salary and roster spot. With the Yankees trying to stay under the luxury tax level, wasting 20 million for the next 5 years on A-rod would be 20 million they can't spend on a right fielder or a catcher or pitching help. Oh wait, that already happened this off-season.
And maybe in a few years, when Derek Jeter is too old to play anymore, the Yankees won't be able to afford a replacement for him either.

The thing that I hate about AROD was that he was already a great player who would have gotten paid plenty of money - he didn't need to cheat
...and don't call me Shirley

Danny Valencia's name on biogenesis list released today by yahoo sports. A couple names below Ruan Braun and A-rod.
This must be proof they weren't handing out PEDs because he's sucked for a couple years now.
Throw the 2 seamer for strikes dammit.

He doesn't suck - he just can't hit right handed pitchers.

Last year he started badly with Minnesota and was sent to Rochester, where he took the assignment like it was a joke. Wasn't at all popular with fans or teammates. He needs an attitude adjustment and apparently a few other things as well. Hitting right handers might be the least of his issues.

I'm just worried that the Yankees might be able to void that $28 mil a year contract. Imagine what they could do with that money freed up.

Re: New BALCO-like scandal coming to light
5 years ago I'd be worried about the Yankees with extra loot however the market correction has caught up to the Yankees and they need to lower payroll for the next 2-3 seasons in order to turn a profit. Possibly they will go up for sale at that time? Who knows. Anyhow with other teams taking care of their own before that last season hits on the contract the Yankees wont be able to scoop up just anyone from here on out. The more teams like the Orioles,Nationals and whoever else is properly forming their complete orginization front to back the Yankees or any other team stealing away high dollar players in the future wont be a shoe in for a playoff spot.
